Coaches, Don't forget to nominate your worthy seniors for All-Star consideration. Deadline is Tuesday, Jan. 21. Nomination requires, among other things, a copy of player's LHSAA physical as well as a player photo . . . so start getting your ducks in a row. All nominations are submitted electronically via the link below. Parents, Feel free to remind your coaches of the deadline. Every year someone that is deserving is left off All-Stars, even though we do our best to save those that fall through the cracks, because a coach fails to nominate. www.lhsca.org/SIDHelp.php?action=form¶meters=30

Thank you for the link and the reminder! Quick question, when filling out the nomination form they ask for East or West All Star, how would I know which is for our school (Woodlawn - BR). Thanks
Also - I joined the LHSCA two year ago when I was the coach at McKinley High, then I was suspended last year and am now back to coaching. My follow up question - am I still a part of the LHSCA from my time at Mckinley or do I have to renew my membership and pay the $30 due each year? Thanks

So, yes, you need to renew each year. BR is EAST for all-star purposes.

It would really be helpful to know which schools are considered East or West. Asking for Houma Christian specifically in Houma, LA?

When is the all-star game played? Looks like February 29th. It’s always on the last day of Soccer Finals weekend unless for some reason it changed this year.

Hopefully a lot of thought is put into the selection so the best players are really chosen. Not the usual you scratch my back and I'll scratch yours.

Ther All star game is hard to get into. Seniors with pretty extensive resumes are the only ones who will get in. the selection committee always does a pretty good job in getting the best players in. I find the all star game to always be pretty entertaining as the best players statewide are involved in it

There are only a few players in the state every year recruited to play in college. Some of those from small non top ranked schools. I would imagine that any D1 or D2 college commit would be considered among the best in the state and be selected to the All Star team. Regardless of the popularity of the high school. Right?

Half the battle is making sure that your coach actually nominates the player.

Right? a great club level player which is where scholarships are found isn’t the same as a great high school player. An example would be a possession oriented player converting to a more direct model. Teams with limited club players have to get it done in a less sophisticated manner. The best example I can think of was the stud club player last year for Denham Springs. He was not a dominant high school force when compared to his technical skills and ability to read a field. Wish I could remember his name. All that said, if he’s going D-1 he’s got my vote!

I have a player @ my high school that is not a club player whom should be @ a D1 or D2. She is a junior this year, and since my district is lead by 2 powerhouse teams. So my best is 3 place in district and always 24th,25th the past 2 years. So hope popular vote doesn't stop her to make All Stars next year.

You are correct. Great Club player but couldn't ever fully adjust to the High school game.
