Captain Shreve has gone on two five-plus hour bus rides to upset the ten seed and the seven seed. When you watch Shreve, one thing stands out above all others. They're tall and athletic. Choosing to play balls through the air for 100 minutes as St. Amant did is a fantastic recipe to lose. My advice to anyone playing Shreve Is put the ball on the ground and attempt to play a more possession style of game. St. Amant exhibited about 4 or 5 runs with multiple pass combinations and each time they found a much better opportunity or one far superior to the other 100 plus attempts to just kick it into their forest only to see the ball cleared 50-60 yards. Beating Shreve will Require patience And build-up something that St. Amant couldn't or wouldn't try but just a handful of times. Talking with Mandeville they lost in 15 minutes and then figured out that the battle wasn't going to be won in the air. Had the Skippers had another 5 minutes they would likely have beaten Shreve. They didn’t and neither did St. Amant.
Denham has always had talent, but the road to the state title has always been an away game in the quarter-finals for them. This year was to be different as they battled all the way up to the two seed. Then they watched helplessly as Mandeville and then St. Amant fell and in the process sent them on a 5 hour road trip. Denham can beat Shreve, but it will not be easy. Once already this year Shreve gave them, a Loss 2-1. Denham is in search of their first final four and to get their they'll have to go a long way and then they'll have to sort through the forest to find some clearings to fire their shots from. Can Denham make it? Can they play their game? Will they defend their two seed on the road? I'm not 100% convinced that Denham can do this any better than the other two candidates.
St. Amant gave up two on frame shots all night and still loss ( a correctly called touching or handling in the box) and (one weird deflection that went high into the air and merely slipped through a routine catch for a fantastic St. Amant Keeper). OpportunIstic people meet up with luck and they take advantage of the combination. Gallstar has been equally lucky in life as he has been good. I think good fortune continues onward for Shreve!
Gallstar picks Shreve 3-2 in yet another upset.
