Good news for soccer fans: we have a quarterfinal doubleheader scheduled for Monday, with this game as the opener and Dominican vs. St. Joe's to follow. Even better news for soccer fans: a live stream from crescentcitysports.com. More info here: crescentcitysports.com/crescent-city-sports-to-live-stream-girls-soccer-playoff-doubleheader-monday/ If these people know what's up they'll invite me into the booth for a little guest color commentary.
Bad news for soccer fans: the weather report has a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. While the Pan Am turf field can certainly handle a bit of water, lightning is another story. Hopefully these two matches can go off without a hitch.
Central Lafourche has put together an impressive season despite moving up to Division I. Go back 5-6 years and this team wasn't even a playoff team. Then they worked themselves into being a top DII team, and now they are a legitimate top 10 team in the biggest division. Hats off to their coaching staff and to everyone involved in developing youth players in the area.
Mt. Carmel, the 2017 state champ, is coming off two disappointing seasons with playoff exits at the hands of Northshore. This year, though, their end of the season 1-1 draw against Dominican was enough to lock up the #2 seed and avoid a playoff trip to Northshore. The only place they can face off against the Panthers is in Hammond. MCA's young attacking talent has made them one of the best teams in the state once again.
The winner will be facing the winner of the Byrd @ Mandeville game.
