WOAHHHHH River Oaks #7,the Arabian Neymar with no left foot whom I also coached, gets the ball at the top of the box, absorbs a body to body collision and goes past a slide tackling defender to take a shot which the keeper saves tremendously but parries towards the back post right to an onrushing Mustang attacker who inexplicably knees the ball the opposite way he is running and away from the open net for a goal kick. Halftime: River Oaks 1 - 0 Delta Streets Academy Bruh!! 😂😂😂😂

And we are back for the second half. At halftime I had to go down and retie a couple corner flags. All of the flags that came with the corner posts have blown or washed away (possibly nicked by the track team) so I've been tying red pennies to the posts as corner flags which sometime come undone. We are a low income school with a self-funded soccer program so I sacrifice fancy corner flags and new game goals (one is round posts one is square). Yet somehow we get our 15+ games.............joking joking!

Shot by River Oaks is so hard that he loses his shin guard! Great save by the DS keeper and eventually out for a goal kick.

In one pic you can see both the River oaks diamond tactic and the sweet tent graphics.

Speedy G breaks through again but a heavy touch leads to a clearance. #34 picks up the ball and dribbles forward with a lot to do as he has 7 defenders plus the keeper to take on over the next 70 yards. Gets about 20 before it's cleared.

Another GREAT save by the Delta Walls keeper. He and the defense are giving the Lions a chance, but eventually you'd think they will need to commit more numbers forward.

Following this is better than listening to Ray Hudson do color commentary of La Liga matches. Thanks, and keep it up Coach!

Another block by the DW defender, this time with his esophagus. Bit winded but will play on. Bouncing ball in the box on the ensuing corner comes to nothing.

Break by #34 for the Walls! he is hawked down by White Lightning for River Oaks who wins the ball with a strong tackle that sends the diminutive #34 sprawling leading to appeals for a foul which the referee demonstratively waves off!

OMG you can't make this up. ANOTHER BLOCK that deflects backside to TWO WIDE OPEN River Oaks attackers who pull a 3balls (check his icon out on the girls board) and by the time they shoot a Walls defender dives headfirst back in front of the goal to block the shot out for a corner that the keeper handles facing his own net on the line. NO GOAL.

Delta Walls defender sprinting towards the sideline to clear a ball swings big and misses but his trail leg knocks the ball out of bounce as he falls to the ground due to the momentum of his great swing.

BREAKAWAY for the Lions! #34 carries the ball on a weaving run that went 15 yards vertically but probably 65 yards all together and plays a sublimely weighted outside of the foot through ball to his phantom forward who, though standing 10 yards off the backline all game...somehow chose this moment to be offside.

First yellow card of the match! #99 on blue pushes the ball through a defender's leg for the umpteenth time only to be DECKED by said defender. Had it coming if I'm being honest.

Side note: in their quarterfinal match on Monday night, River Oaks and the opposing team combined for ONE foul the entire game. ONE. Just not trying hard enough.

I've counted five different color schemes on the Delta Walls individual shorts thus far this game. Reminiscent of the five different generations of jerseys we sport on my jv team.

#99 drifts inside and plays a sublime through ball that makes the centerback for white pirouette in a complete 360 as it goes to the onrushing forward Speedy G. The keeper rushes out and forces the shot wide though.
