Freekick for River Oaks about 30 yards out and the Delta Walls wall takes one in the kisser for yet another block!

Well.... In that first game RO spent the first 15 minutes of the 2 ND half doing a rondo while the other team just watched.... NHS "physical" they weren't

The ensuing scrum leads to a hard shot off the post for blue. The Lions keeper may have gotten a toe on it.

#34 for Delta plays another log ball to no one as DW are sticking with their striker-less formation with 11 minutes left.

The balls goes out over the fence and the referee starts making x signs with his arms up at me...doesn't matter because I've put the wrong time on the clock purposefully. The basketball boy for Delta State runs up to the fence and then just looks at it, then back at his coach, then walks back to the bench. He didn't see the gate 5 yards to his left.... eventually the ball returns to play about 3 minutes later.

Another block by the chest of the center back for the lions. Just send everyone up and leave a few guys in front of the goal, no one is getting through that... 5 minutes remaining.

#2 the ninja for white plays a wonderful back heel through ball...for the other team. Sliding challenge from a recovering defender saves the goal. Keeper with another save on the ensuing corner.

Delta Streets classy in defeat as they keep their heads held high and congratulate the victors. They should be extremely proud of their performance tonight. River Oaks runs over to celebrate with their fans who continue to blow. The trashbags resume their place on top of Delta Street heads.

For years to come when coaching my teams how to defend in the box I will show them videos from this game. This was their Alamo.

For years to come when coaching my teams how to defend in the box I will show them videos from this game. This was their Alamo. If anyone needs a good read on this dreary Thursday morning I suggest reading through this thread. You'll hear tales of 14 young tragic heroes laying their bodies on the line for 80 minutes as they try to hold off their impending doom. I'm still inspired by their bravery in the face of defeat.

I've heard of MAIS but had never heard of Delta Streets Academy, so I did some research. A new school, all-male, mostly African-American in Greenwood, MS. Here's one of the articles linked on the Wikipedia page: world.wng.org/2017/06/creating_a_new_patternAwesome read!! Thanks so much for sharing this!

So much good that can be done when we seek opportunities outside of our own self interest!
