Every season has an ending and or a moment that signals a change has come. The biggest surprises in life are known as shock and shock is due to a non-expected event, and typically it distinguishes a beginning or an ending. There are two teams in Louisiana soccer playing at the pinnacle of their season. One is in D-3, and that team is Uhigh. I was surprised when they dropped three games in one weekend during the season. Was this to be the start of their demise? Then came a new surprise. They would go on a winning streak, and they would tie Catholic, and then they would steamroll all of their D-3 opponents and glide into the state semi-finals. They’re playing at a high pace and are showing zero signs of weakness that I can detect. The best team all season; not really. The best team right now, probably. Would I be shocked if they lost? Yes.
Lusher has been quiet and consistent all year. They hosted a house party in the quarters and defeated their guest 3-1. This is what Lusher does. They possess and wear you down and let you make your fancy moves so that they can patiently take the ball away and then play keep away. They’re not overloaded with speed, but they have some. They’re not the most beautiful team with fancy eccentric moves, but they have some. They’re not many things, but what they are is exceptionally consistent and well-coached. If they get through the first ten minutes of each half, then it’s game on. The survival will allow them to settle in and play their game at their pace. They’ll not have to try to be something they’re not. They check all the boxes of a potential champion if they control the narrative. Get down a goal early, and it’s game over.
Gallstar will call for a 3-2 Lusher upset. I’ll be shocked!

Lusher is still a young team with their core players being juniors and sophomores, but those players are not inexperienced. If UHigh does not get up on them by 2 goals in the first half, it better watch out. I think Lusher takes it 2-1.

U. High has never lost, including last year’s state championship when Gallstar shows up to watch them unless they're playing the Gators. This is over three years. I'm sorry nobody invited me this Friday other than my old pal Moser. He needs emotional support because so many people have picked against his team.

Gallstar you fool. U. High is going to dismantle Lusher maybe if the starting 11 is injured in a bus accident Lusher would have a small chance of winning. To be frank I don't understand you opinion despite a average/ below average Lusher being away they will be stomped by a more experienced, gritty, strong, talented, fast, aggressive, and attractive U. High team. So you think it’s gonna be close? 😆

Ulab has too many players that can do damage on the ball, including freshman #6. He looks to have a bright future for their program.

Man, if Lusher wasn't motivated already . . . it sure is now.
Unless I'm mis-remembering, another interesting aspect of this (re)match is that Lusher returned almost everyone from last year and U-High did a fair amount of reloading. That's an X factor that could help Lusher.
Should be another great game with great coaches and players. Good luck, boys!

This should be a very good game. Yall that are bashing Lusher, ......stop it. Lusher plays some of the best soccer I've seen this season. They can play and they will bring it.
Now U-high is a monster as well. A bunch of those guys played with my (former) AC guys last fall in some indoor mens league and they were well capable of playing with anybody on the other side of the pitch. Nils Newhauser is one of my favorite players EVER. Had the true pleasure of coaching him for 2 years at BRSC, and he has turned into a dynamite player. Great kid and great leader. They are deep and skilled.
Great matchup of coaches--Chris Mitchell is a LEGEND. Im a big fan of Chris...gets it done and always keeps his humility. great tactician. Ben Barcelona is a legend in the making. Dude gets it, has a great rapport with his players and has them playing some attractive ball.
I've been under a rock since my (unwarranted) departure from AC, but i really want to try and get over to see this game. I dont think this game will see either team put more than 2 goals on the other, but i do expect it will be fast and physical. 2-1 either way, with 7 yellows and possibly a late sendoff. Kids from both teams will leave it all out on the field. This one of the best matchups of the year

I've got Uhigh in a 2-0 win. Early goal and then late goal when Lusher gets desperate. Interested to see how this one plays out. CANT WAIT! These are the type of games you live for, too bad my playing days are over... The atmosphere is going to be something different.

I like Lusher's style of play.Never seen University play but they must be creative and play the game like it should be played. Let the boy's boogie. I voted Lusher.

Hold on, I take that back. Are we talking shaved Chris Mitchell or bearded Chris Mitchell leading the charge? That is a big factor of this game.

Lusher is amongst the best, but they're the least talked about team in the state. They slew a quality Deridder Dragons side, and nobody said a word. Gallstar picks Lusher 4-1. I'll stay on that train, but add some history with some hope. 2013 - Beat Menard 2-0 and then lost by 2 goals in QF to a Baton Rouge team (Episcopal) who went on to win the State Championship. 2014 - Lusher won State Championship 2019 - Beat Menard 2-0 and then lost by 2 goals in QF to a Baton Rouge team (University) who might go on to win the State Championship. 2020 - Lusher might repeat as State Champions Just a little vision casting... Go get 'em! After beating Lusher last year, University did continue through the bracket to win the State Championship. For fans of history repeating itself, based on those tongue-in-cheek conjectures, I like the Lions chances for another State Championship (but 1 game at a time guys). Not knowing ANY of the current players, I'm gonna keep cheering from PA and beating the history repeating itself drum... In 2014 Lusher had to go on the road for the semi-final match to face a defending State Champion (St. Louis) - that was quite a daunting place to play and an incredibly intense game before Lusher finally punched their ticket to the State Championship in shots from the mark. In 2020 Lusher will also go on the road for the semi-final and face defending State Champ University. I'll go with Coach Ray's assessment and expect a very good match (while hoping that Lusher can pull out the win).
