Disappointed to see Strawberry Stadium is an artificial surface. Should have stayed at ULL in my opinion.
Flame away.

"Rain proof"
I'm with you in that I think it should have stayed at ULL as it was a great atmosphere on a natural grass pitch.
I understand why they'd want to move it closer to the Northshore area though with a majority of championship teams being from either the Northshore or New Orleans area. Ensures more supporters make the trip to the game which ensures more money at the gate and in LHSAA's pocket

The games at ULL were packed with people. I hope that they are in Hammond also.

I pick a great natural surface over a plastic one any day. However, I think state championship event should be on turf so that no matter the conditions a good quality of soccer can be played.

It is a bid process every year. Don’t blame LHSAA, if you must blame someone, blame ULL for not making sure their bid was the most appealing. Otherwise, just enjoy the show.

Pretty sure no one bid this year besides Southeastern. I think I also heard rumblings of Southeastern or lhsaa attempting to get all/most championships at one location. But can’t remember exact details.

The one thing I liked about moving from New Orleans was going to grass. Feels like a step backwards.

The one thing I liked about moving from New Orleans was going to grass. Feels like a step backwards. Lafayette had both. St Thomas More and Teurlings and Clark Field all have turf with decent capacities. I too felt like Lafayette has the best of both worlds. I have no idea how big Strawberry Stadium is, but nothing kills atmosphere like an empty stadium.

Unbelievable pitch. Couldn’t tell there were that many games played on a very wet surface. Not sure why it got moved

That is after 10 games, 8 championships and 2 All Star games in 4 days.

rumor mill is that UL didn’t bid to host because UL baseball has a conference home series later this week. 😩😒
Cajun Rush, Lafayette Tourism Bureau, & former TCH Soccer Coach Lance Peltier were instrumental in having the LHSAA State Championship hosted at UL. I guess we can only hope and pray they’ll do there best again to work w/ UL & bid to host next cycle.

Well at least it’s not at Independence again C'mon, it is hard to beat the memory of the maintenance worker having to use a push broom to hold the football upright off the goalposts due to the excessive wind one year. We did it classy back then in Shreveport. Is it a coincidence that those two years had Caddo Magnet win it one year and Shreve in the finals the next? I think not...bring back Independence.
