I've been impressed by Newman's results but have never seen them play in person. They have a reliable team because the D-4 competition was loaded this season, and they've only lost once vs. a D-4 side. Going on the road to New Iberia proved to be no problem for them, and now we can put our fears of them traveling aside. The one loss in D-4 came vs. their current opponent and once again highlighted their struggles to find Goals this season. Before the Catholic NI game, I mentioned they would have to score at least three to win. Guess what they won 3-2. Now they're facing a team that two goals will beat. I'm going on a hunch based upon my research, but Newman will hold the possession 70% of the match. This possession game is an excellent defense in and of itself; however, I think Episcopal is exceptional, allowing your team to hold it and then crashing at the perfect moment. If I'm Newman, I would be extremely cautious about over possessing in dangerous spots.
The Episcopal side is my D-4 horse, and I've forgiven Them over faking a wet field vs. Mandeville. Truth telling time, one of my worst days as a Gator fan was when Coach Kiran left our program to go coach at Episcopal. My son loved him beyond words as a coach. He's an academic of the game and has a little football skill as well. His team's are gritty and tough but incredibly smart like him. The episcopal team is one that can stir your side up and get you off your game. Ask PJP about this. I've seen them play three times this year and each time there have been a few cards and a few exchanges other than pleasantries. They'll look to catch Newman at the perfect spot and sneak a goal off of their possession. I think Episcopal could win the title in any division this year. They've been a great start to finish, and this dates back to team camps and summer indoor.
Gallstar sees this game as a 2-0 Episcopal victory with both goals coming from a high press mistake by Newman. Episcopal doesn't get scored on much so 1 should be enough.

EHS 3-0. Newman lost a heartbreaker last year to NLC and this year I think EHS will do it to them again.
Have no idea about the make up of Newman's roster but it feels like a young roster that will be back next year.

Coming from Vandebilt Catholic, Newman was one of the best teams we have played this season. Their midfield was great and their attack and defense was not bad. If #6 and #10 control the game they will win.

I completely agree. Coming from a PJP dad, they were the best team we faced all season in my humble opinion. Sorry Vandy, y’all weren’t too shabby either!😬🤣👍🏻 Newman 4-1. Good stuff but I don’t agree that the Terrebonne results indicate a tie.

A little history between Episcopal and Newman since the last time they met in the finals: 2013 Episcopal beats Newman 1-0 in the D3 Championship. 2014 Episcopal runs into Lusher in the Quarters who wins it all. Newman put out by NLC in the Semis (Newman beat Episcopal 7-0 earlier in revenge match). 2015 Newman eliminates Episcopal in the 2nd round, but goes out to SLC in the Semis (who wins #11) 2016 Newman goes to D4 and loses to NLC in the finals. Episcopal stays in D3 but runs into SLC in the Quarters who wins it all. 2017 Newman wins the D4 Championship vs ESA. Episcopal goes to D3 finals after upsetting #1 Vandy but loses to SLC in a game they are still mad about. 2018 Newman gets to D4 final but loses to ESA. Episcopal joins D4 with high hopes but loses to NLC in the semis. 2019 Newman loses to NLC in the D4 final Episcopal loses to NLC in the Quarters on the way there. 2020 Episcopal beats Newman 1-0 early in the season in the first rematch in 5 years. D4 Finals are rematch of 2013. Full circle. These two have been orbiting each other in D3 and D4 for the past 7 years with only 4 match-ups. Each with 2 wins. I love the history between these two schools. However, there are just a few corrections in these results: 2011: #6 Episcopal beats #3 Newman 1-0 in Sudden Death Overtime in the Quarterfinals. (EHS loses to NLC in the semi's in PKs) 2012: Newman beats Episcopal in a revenge match 6-1 in the regular season. 2013: Newman and EHS do not play each other in the regular season, but meet in the state championship. #2 Episcopal beats #1 Newman in the state championship 2-1 in OT. 2014: Episcopal beats Newman 2-1 in a regular season matchup at Episcopal. (EHS loses to Lusher in the quarters who wins it all, like you said) The rest is accurate With that being said, my prediction is Episcopal 3-2, possible OT.

An interesting trend in the D-IV championship is that the winner lost the previous year in each of the last 4 years.
2015- St. Louis beats Northlake in PKs 2016- Northlake wins the first D-IV title over Newman 2017- Newman beats ESA 2018- ESA beats Northlake 2019- Northlake beats Newman
If that trend holds, Newman will win tomorrow, and Episcopal will win next year. We’ll see.

Episcopal won early in the year 1-0 to this team. Although both teams have talent, Id have to give the win to Episcopal solely due to the fact that they won previously. 1-0 Episcopal. TAout
