Maybe I should nominate my 6th grader... He kicks the ball a long way down the field when all of the parents yell "kick it!"

Not saying her post was perfect but you're being a jerk and I also have no idea who this person is

I’m sorry, he is being a jerk after reading her post and how she personally attacked him? Rabid is only pointing out that High School soccer means little in the world of college soccer and the awards probably a little less than that.
Also, just because coaches are not coaching or teaching does not mean they don’t have other pressing issues in their life’s as well with what is going on right now. I tend to think there are more pressing issues in everyone’s life right now.
Bully for basketball. They got their list out. Well done.
pOkLE this clearly all your fault.

Agree she was not nice but it was an emotional mother and he is apparently a coach and imagine he has handled parents like this before in some prior setting. I'm guessing he doesn't handle every personal interaction with a parent this way. Guess this is just the "message board mentality" that everyone has to add their snarky comment in order to be set themselves apart. Peace.

I think it was that she made personal attacks against board members when we were obviously just being silly..

I am not a coach but I am a parent - both my boys played club soccer and high school. If a parent wants to come on here begging for attention for their child, that’s what they will get. Just go back and look over the years at how parents are treated when they come on looking for the attaboys. Parents need to shut up and enjoy their kids times - will they always get the awards they think they deserve - not a chance. If missing out on being named to any of these teams are the biggest disappointment in their child’s lives then the parents should feel blessed. Please Pokle..... make these parents dream come true soon. Cause I can’t wait to see the thread of all those that weren’t selected

Please Pokle..... make these parents dream come true soon. Cause I can’t wait to see the thread of all those that weren’t selected I didn't see any parent begging for attention for attention or atta boys, all I see is people asking about the status of something that taking longer than expected. Yea, they should shut up. Sheesh, what a dim view that is. I see coaches on here belittling the award itself. To them, I ask why bother in the first place?
You wanna know who cares about such silly attaboys? The Juniors who are currently marketing themselves to college coaches care, the Seniors still trying to get a shot under these trying circumstances care too. All-state is yet another asset on their soccer resume that might tip the balance when college coaches are reviewing emails from prospective players expressing interest in their programs and schools. Even more so for Juniors and Seniors who got the honor multiple times. (No, I don't have a HS Junior or Senior but I think this is important.
Isn't this site meant to promote Louisiana soccer? Don't we want to promote our best players to give them the best chance to play at the next level? It ain't much to say that you've played Louisiana high school soccer but having the cred from an all-state nod might at least turn a head or two. JuCo, NAIA, DIII, DII, and DI coaches not only recognize accolades but so do admissions people when the coaches are in there fighting to get a kid into a school or money to even make it happen. Look beyond your own experience and appreciate that some players and even dumb parents who just know how to yell "kick it!" have a legitimate reason to ask for status. I don't think anyone attacked coaches until people started insulting parents. I'm a parent, too, and was once a player before inflatable balls were invented. My two also play/ed club and school and I have one playing D-1 college. Every little thing played a part in getting him there, even earning lowly all-state in Louisiana. Active and supportive high school coaches were the biggest asset he had in the process. Be that.

lol. Sorry, guys. Been a little busy with the transition to e-learning with my school.
The presidents decided that it was a little awkward to be focusing on our end-of-season awards at a time when the governor was closing schools and we were beginning to adjust to a new normal of staying at home.
Sorry none of the coaches on here could relay accurate info that the nomination window was extended to yesterday, April 7. And the plan is to finalize process and announce around April 13, the initial return day to school.
I'm a little busy with Holy Week. Looks like we will vote April 13-14 and release teams on Apr. 15.
Hopefully this allays some concerns about us forgetting about the kids.
Definitely been missing the razzing. Thanks for that, boys!

you’re right - marketing yourself is how you get noticed. The college coaches know the political game these awards are and that’s why the players have to promote themselves.
Just wait until the list comes out - there will be many people upset about who is on the list and who isn’t - because everyone thinks/knows that some players on the teams shouldn’t be there and that others were overlooked.
The players that have the SKILL and WORK ETHIC and DESIRE are the ones that will be playing at the next level - not the ones that are most decorated

They pushed voting into April sometime so that the districts and regions could get their voting finished first.

True, but if LSU, Tulane, ULL, Nicholls, SLU, UNO etc had men’s programs you would see more decorated players at the next level. You have to have a massive desire to play at a small liberal arts school thousands of miles away from home. Gallstar needs to form a nonprofit organization with the support of LSA to make this happen for future generations.
