Congratulations to Doug Hamilton and Lance Peltier on being inducted into the Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association Hall of Fame. Both coaches made incredible contributions to Louisiana High School Soccer beyond the playing field and are very deserving of the recognition.
Doug Hamilton
-Doug Hamilton has coached at Vandebilt Catholic for 28 years
-As Head Coach of the Vandebilt Boys, Doug Hamilton had a record of 377 - 83
-As head Coach of the Vandebilt Boys, Doug Hamilton made 8 State Championship appearances and has a record of 6-2 in the finals, including advancing to 7 consecutive Finals from 2001 - 2008.
-Coach Hamilton served as President of the Louisiana High School Soccer Coaches Association and was instrumental in helping to establish the LHSSCA All-Star Games.
Lance Peltier
-Lance Peltier coached at Teurlings Catholic for 11 years
-While coaching the Boys Soccer team at Teurlings Catholic, Coach Peltier led the Boys team to 2 State Championships, 2 State Runner-ups, and 1 Semi-final appearance from 2005 - 2010
-While coaching the Girls Soccer team at Teurlings Catholic, Coach Peltier led the Girls program to 2 State Championships, 1 Semi-final appearance, and 3 Quarterfinal appearances.
-Coach Peltier had a combined coaching record of 240 - 81 - 39
-Coach Peltier was also instrumental in helping to establish the LHSSA All-Star games, which were first hosted at UL-Lafayette with Coach Peltier's help.
Thank you to Coach Chad Vidrine, the current LHSSCA President, for recognizing Coach Hamilton and Coach Peltier during halftime of the Boys All-Star Game on Saturday. As Coach Vidrine said at the presentation, "Doug Hamilton and Lance Peltier had a significant impact on Vandebilt Catholic, Teurlings Catholic, and Louisiana High School Soccer."
Although I spent many years as a rival of both Coach Hamilton and Coach Peltier, I am very happy to call both of them friends. I know that I speak for all coaches when saying that Coach Hamilton and Coach Peltier are two of the most respected coaches in Louisiana High School Soccer history. Thank you to both of them for their generosity and leadership towards the game that we all love.
