How does the ECNL connection work? Some kids in club may get to try out for Dallas area ECNL team at some point?

Ski is correct. Each ECNL team can roster 2 Discovery Players. ECNL is a US Club affiliated league. Which means you can be on a US Youth team (like a LCSL team) and a US Club team that is part of a different club. Now the clubs don’t like that but it’s perfectly legal to do. Us Club teams are allowed 26 on their roster, but still limited to 18 in league play or 22 in tournaments, to be active for each game/event.

It provides the best platform for a young player to be seen by college coaches. A lot of showcase tournaments. Like I tell the players and parents in our organization, we will create and provide opportunities for you, but you have to put the work in to achieve what you want to achieve. Ultimately it's up to you. I think it would be nice if clubs would not treat these kids like possessions. We all should want what is best for the player. If I was approached by another club telling me they had an opportunity for one of our players to play in a showcase with them, I would be more than happy to let that kid play. You never know what doors it could open up for them.

Sadly most clubs around the state are so worried about losing a good player that they discourage and outright deny opponmrtunities for their players. It’s truly sad.

A good platform to participate in college showcases and be seen by hundreds of college coaches. Also, it can broaden one’s horizons on the highest level of competition nationwide. Some fantastic players and teams out there that are extremely good. Really opens eyes to see what skill level your player is actually at.
But being a DP, you have to have thick skin. Those girls on the GA/ECNL teams do not like Louisiana girls going over and stealing their minutes on the field. They get upset and it can be really cut throat from your own teammates.
Really comes down to what you really want. Want to go to a top D1 college nation wide? Then your best chance is to train and play with those players and teams that funnel into those colleges. Yes, there are exceptions....seen a player go to Clemson from club ball.
It takes a lot of hard work and commitment, but it can be done.

Louisiana needs a D1 college Title IX says not on my watch. If they thought they could make a profit on men's soccer, they'd have it. If an LSU men's team could get a few thousand season ticket holders at $10/game, there would be a team.

Seems like sting only got girls team going and that was due to takeover of 07 girls Cosmos. Or are there boys teams? The boys teams FC Galaxy had prior to the merger moved over to PARDS for the most part. They had 3-5 teams between academy and 06 beforehand. Now I think they have mostly younger kids and the 07G team which is really good. That was a good move for the Cosmos group. The Sting brand seems to be offering opportunities for a team of their level.
