Don’t worry, an SSA dad will be in here soon to have SSA at #1 and MCA not in the top 10.

1. MCA 2. Captain Shreve 3. Dominican 4. St. Joe's 5. Byrd 6. Mandeville 7. Parkway 8. St. Amant 9. Thibodaux 10. Acadiana GO CUBS! I’d start with the St Joe’s win over Mt Carmel followed by the Dominican win over St Joe’s as the beginnings of that proof. The thread should be renamed to “Homer mid season D1 top 10 poll”

These are my rankings based on what I think teams can do at their best (i.e. not missing players due to COVID). But that involves a lot of guesswork as I don't always know what the situation was when I see a result listed online.
1. Dominican--clear #1 right now. Perfect season so far. Fast, skilled, and tons of depth. They can be beaten, but only if the opposition brings their "A" game. 2. St. Joe's--played Dominican as tough as anyone (2-0 loss with one of the goals in the 80th minute). 3. Mt. Carmel--solid defense and when the offense gets going, it really gets going. 4. SSA--I saw them earlier in the season and they are a good team. They just need everyone in Covington to mask up and social distance so their players don't end up quarantined. What makes them a tough team is that they can kill you on the counterattack. An opponent win the possession battle 60-40 and still lose by 3 or 4 goals. 5. Captain Shreve--you could debate bumping them up a few spots, but this is my list. If they do run the table and beat Byrd I'd bump them up to #4. 6. Byrd--nice win over Mandeville when they came down south. I'll be interested to see how they play against Dominican and MCA in two weeks. 7. Mandeville--they get this spot thanks to their win over Northshore. 8. St. Amant--possibly the weirdest mix of results of any team. But if I'm going on potential I think they have to be in the top 10. 9. Northshore--they beat St. Thomas More 8-5 at the beginning of the season. Now that must've been a fun game to watch. 10. Dutchtown--I watched them against MCA this week. Played well, but they just got worn down by MCA's depth near the end of the game.
Honorable mentions: Acadiana, Hahnville, Thibodaux

Having seen all the top teams play except Mt Carmel here’s what I believe
1. Dominican by far the top team.
2 St Joseph’s 3. My Carmel. These 2 teams are in a group by themselves just under Dominican, and have the best shot at taking them down given a absolute flawless game
4. Capt Shreve. Coach Lane has his group playing at their best seemingly every game. Great chemistry goes along way, next hurdle is to learn how to win the big games. 5. Byrd. They started the season with some uneven play, but have starts to gel as of late. 6. Mandeville. All the talent needed to be top 3/4 but not consistent game to game. 7. Dutchtown. This team is also playing well together and could sneak up on a few teams above them in this list, given a favorable bounce it 2. 8. Northshore. Lost a lot of talent to graduation, but still have a bunch. Just need to figure out how to work together with what they have. 9. SSA. There is plenty of talent there, not sure they gel as a group enough to use their talent to its fullest. 10. St Amant. Like Kevin said the Dr Jekyll/Mr Hyde of the group. Which team will show up in the playoffs. One of them could be too 5 the other gets bounced in round 1/2

Would you really be surprised in a power shift to NWLA after the events you have seen unfold in 2020 and now 2021? Times they are a changing. The good captain is smiling down upon us! . Easy there Captain. You better worry about The Flyers before you start popping off about beating Byrd. See you on the pitch next week!
