Anyone know why LHSAA hasn't adopted the new 7-10 day quarantine guidelines released by the CDC a few weeks ago?

Not sharing this as absolute knowledge but one of the Coaches on the boy's side shared this a few weeks back when someone asked the same question:
The LDH told the LHSAA that
"the shortened quarantined options (7 day with negative test) (10 day) should only be applicable in settings where Non-Pharmacologic Interventions (NPI's), particularly masks can be strictly maintained."
From the CDC website:
Quarantine can end after Day 10 without testing and if no symptoms have been reported during daily monitoring.
- With this strategy, residual post-quarantine transmission risk is estimated to be about 1% with an upper limit of about 10%.
When diagnostic testing resources are sufficient and available (see bullet 3, below), then quarantine can end after Day 7 if a diagnostic specimen tests negative and if no symptoms were reported during daily monitoring. The specimen may be collected and tested within 48 hours before the time of planned quarantine discontinuation (e.g., in anticipation of testing delays), but quarantine cannot be discontinued earlier than after Day 7.
- With this strategy, the residual post-quarantine transmission risk is estimated to be about 5% with an upper limit of about 12%.
In both cases, additional criteria (e.g., continued symptom monitoring and masking through Day 14) must be met and are outlined in the full text.

This is the 2nd time my kid has been quarantined due to someone in her class testing positive. She can return to school after 7 days if she tests negative after 5 days per CDC guidelines. LHSAA still requires the 14 day quarantine to participate. Why?

My understanding is that after the 10 days they go into a controlled environment with adequate spacing and mask usage. With that thought process, a soccer field is not controlled and they don’t wear a mask.

All of our kids that are serious about playing through the season have gone virtual - that way another kid can’t impact if they need to be quarantined.

All of our kids that are serious about playing through the season have gone virtual - that way another kid can’t impact if they need to be quarantined. I would be interested to hear how many schools are allowing students to do that purely for sports-related reasons. I 100% understand that some kids are going virtual due to high-risk family members or various other situations. And some students/schools are better equipped to deal with and benefit from virtual learning. But as a teacher, I think the vast majority of students are going to benefit more from being in a classroom environment than from sitting at home taking Zoom classes. It's one thing to ask a kid to skip going to a party or a family gathering; it's another to ask her to spend a few months on Zoom just so she can play soccer with a lower risk of being quarantined. If online learning works just as well for your kid as being in a classroom, then go right ahead. But if you're sacrificing your kid's education for a few soccer games, I don't know what to tell you, other than to consider that maybe you could just wait until the playoffs to keep your kid home.

I understand that sentiment, and I wish that were possible. Not all of my players can go virtual. They don't have internet at home or have a rough home life, whether they would be keeping their younger brothers and sisters or having to work. Some have learning disabilities and accommodations that are better being utilized at school than at home.
