Please share, we all look at things differently and only with all angles can the true picture be seen. Well for starters, booting the ball out every time It comes near does not equate great defense. Loyola had more possession throughout. The refs called it pretty fairly. An intentional shove by a Shreve defender that gets a yellow card is not a bad call. Looked a lot less lopsided than the commentating here would like it seem like. it’s like you read my mind.

We can wait for copakid to report the possession % after the Trace film is uploaded. That will answer that question pretty easily.

I hope the ladies didn’t look ahead to that matchup with Byrd. MSP?

Both teams played hard and it was a physical competitive match. It is hard to establish possession numbers when neither team completes more than 3 passes. Majority of the game spent trying to get the ball out of the air. Reality is, Shreve is organized defensively and does not really build out much, they defend and counter and can be effective. They pushed much harder at the start of the game than the last time we played so I give them credit as it took us awhile to figure out how to match up with the difference in systems. I felt we did a much better job on their front two this game, it’s just difficult to break down 9 players behind the ball and you don’t get many clear looks at goal. We played much better in the 2nd half I thought and actually connected some passes on the ground which helped settle us down.
Overall the take away for both teams will be a great playoff atmosphere in the stands and a high intensity and physical game which is usually what most playoff games devolve into. Wasn’t pretty soccer but we worked hard and will take the result this time around. Student sections were great and entertaining to watch.

The “commentator’s” interpretation of this game may be a little skewed - as his daughter was filling in for Shreve’s Coach Lane on the sidelines. This explains many of his reactions to the game play and the center ref. However, it doesn’t explain a few statements....
If Shreve’s “top scorer” isn’t Emma Bradford (who played in tonight’s game), then who is it?
Loyola’s goal FOLLOWED a play initiated by a free kick, but was the result of a breakaway just afterwards. Not a free kick “clean finish.”

Not a free kick “clean finish.” #knowyourplace Where to start. First, yes my daughter is an asst coach at Shreve and was part of the coaching of this game because the HC is unable to be there. While we all look at things through a different lense, I do my best to report as fair as possible, which is also why I asked broalie1919 to share his POV as he stated he had a different one. Second Bradford is Shreve’s top scorer, and as stated did not play in the first game between Loyola and Shreve. Third. I said their goal was off a free kick TO a clean finish. Which in fact it was. The ball went through the defense, and Kennedy ran in it and had a clean finish. Fourth. As I read copakids assessment I don’t see it as far off of what I said, short of commenting of the calls made. Fifth I haven’t heard one person deny the missed handball in the box, followed by the missed takedown of a Shreve player in the box. Sixth. I clearly said that a tie is what I thought a fair result. And that sometimes up and down games like these don’t always lend to the deserved result when both had chances And as a Loyola parent you are probably skewed in their favor as well.

Sure, I am always up for a good game which is why we have played or will play St. Joe’s, Dominican, STM, Acadiana, Byrd, Mandeville, St. Michael’s, Parkview Baptist, Lafayette, and Shreve among others. Everyone’s view is always skewed towards their own team, mine included. It has taken me awhile to get to the point where I am now as a coach in terms of not placing to much importance on the local rivalry games. This was not a good game of soccer, it was an intense physical game where often the ball was secondary to people hitting each other. While this will help in developing physical and mental toughness and competitiveness, you need more than that to win when it matters late in Feb. You can’t beat the top teams in any division playing the way this game was played. This is not to minimize or down the efforts of either team because the players for both teams played hard. It is just my perspective I am trying to give to my team having played in 5 finals in the last 8 years (losing 4). As a long time moderator on this site it is entertaining to see all the email addresses associated with these screen names and who is posting and going at each other from the different schools. As parents we take this stuff way to serious and personal. Let the kids play and let’s not make this ugly. Most will never play another competitive game after high school anyway so let’s enjoy it while we can. Keep it classy on Tuesday everyone!

Well said Copakid14 in the end it's all about the kids! Not the parents and their rivalries.

It wasn't the best for either team. As parents we do take things personally, especially when parents at other schools talk horribly about your kid or post about your kid as if they were in high school themselves. I do appreciate that you have never done that but its unfortunate that other Shreveport parents and coaches do.

I was at the game and saw the game a tad different than what’s posted here. Just saying... W Maybe you should make an eye Dr. appointment. Or an appointment with a psychologist to help you unbiasdly put things into perspective. Dme(?) was very fair in their play by play of this game. 3 yellows on Shreve. 2 of which were in no way cards! Maybe 3 total foul calls on LCP. Poor reffing and a couple other unavoidable issues caused Shreve to lose to LCP. But it was a hard fought loss and win. Both TEAMS played their hearts out. 18-1 with the 1 being to a team that also fits in their 18! Not too shabby!

Absolutely wrong about LCP's student section's abhorrent treatment of athletes on the field! But when there is no admin, no coach and no parent to step in and remind them of what is expected well.....

Where do you coach?
