A little data collection may be helpful. The people who take time to create usernames for this board are probably invested enough to vote:

I vote yes, and ideally it would be in addition to your club team and year round.

Isn’t this the purpose of ODP? To bring the elite players together onto one team?

ODP doesn't play in ECNL, MLS, or GA. If they could then that would solve the problem.

Isn’t this the purpose of ODP? To bring the elite players together onto one team? It was....decades ago. ODP has been DOA for many years now.

For newcomers, we've had very good conversations about higher level play for Louisiana in the " Sting Soccer Coming to Louisiana" and " Gulf Coast Texans" threads. The more people that know about the options, the more likely we can push to make something happen.

yallcrazy recently told me to "put on a kevlar jacket" with all of this talk about how to make LA soccer better. Now he is creating a poll. He must have a kevlar jacket and Jedi bullet deflecting power. We have people coming out of the wood work now. Cheers yallcrazy

I’ll start with the “shots”.
Expectations of this happens:
Each club will want a certain number of spots on the team, with big clubs (BRSC/Fire) wanting largest number and many clubs not getting any.
There will be a political power struggle to determine who is in charge, with big clubs wanting to control playing time/schedules.
In the end, big clubs will realize they don’t need smaller clubs, and leave them out and if players want to join they have to leave current club and join big clubs.
Solutions:
Appoint a outside person outside the big clubs to run this “Super Team”. I nominate Orlando Cervantes.
Assuming LSA won’t approve of this. Nor will big clubs. Nor will small clubs.

Well, if we’re talking getting a MLS Next slot for Louisiana, then I would imagine MLS would control who gets the spot and who the Coaching Staff will be. It all has to be vetted and approved by MLS

With change comes challenges! If nothing is done then nothing changes! The current system in place does not help Louisiana players. With the right person in charge this can work.

What can I say, you inspired me! All I’ve ever gotten from trying to raise the level of the game in Louisiana is anger, backstabbing, and jealousy from people who have never played the game, while recreational coaches knowingly sell a fairytale to trusting kids and parents. I have no financial or personal interest in improving the game here, but as someone who has forged a different path, I feel obliged to share with others who might be going through the same thing.
My point about the kevlar is that there are many people who say that they are doing what’s in the best interest of the kids, and yet act in a way that only benefits their ego or club. Kids are treated like possessions, and player development is impeded. I call these people Progress Stoppers, and they are the norm in LA soccer. So when you try to improve things and bring the focus back to the players and THEIR dreams, those Progress Stopper’s egos are most threatened because they want it to be about them and their own success. So they lash out at any effort to put the focus on truly elevating players because their glory and control would diminish.
I’ll never forget something a great coach told me about how he approaches player development:
“I will train a kid from another club Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, and let him compete against me on Saturday.”
If we had more attitudes like that, Louisiana soccer would be on the national map within a year. Skeptically hopeful that MLS/ECNL/GA can happen in the next couple of years.

Yes, I agree with some of what you said here. If top players have a chance to play in MLS Next, they certainly will try to make that roster. These means, Clubs will lose their best players to this opportunity. That means they are committed to 1 team and 1 roster. They won’t be in the High School player pool anymore as well. The great thing for these players is that they will be playing in the top League for boys in the Country and they will have scouts and College Coaches looking at them that would have NEVER seen them if things remain as they are.

“Orlando Cervantes - Assuming LSA won’t approve of this. Nor will big clubs. Nor will small clubs.” Ya think? But why? Why do new clubs have to jump through hoops and so much red tape when it is “for the kids”? Why is it such a big deal trying to form alliance teams for age groups where there is a gap? Is it really a bad thing that more kids are playing soccer in LA, even if not playing for big clubs? I don’t personally know Orlando, nor has my kid ever played for him. What I do know is he is invested in the kids he coaches, and wanting to raise the level of recognition for Louisiana soccer. He would be an unbiased observer of talent, and with some support roles from the other clubs like Ryan Lazaroe (Slidell), Adrian Garcia (BRSC), Julio Paiz (Fire), Kevin Mooney (Dynamo), etc supporting the selection process to ensure the best players from their clubs get opportunity. Ultimately I think they Dynamo expansion across the state will lead to an expanded pool of players from certain clubs that claim to be the best of Louisiana, while many of the best players continue to be overlooked.

Julio is with Dynamo now, and Hubie is the DOC for Fire. Was examples. There are a lot of good people invested in Louisiana soccer. Would love to see them take the next steps towards helping elevate the whole state. Rising tides lift all boats.
