From what it sounds like, TDP is now accepting players regardless of where they play club. In theory, every kid in south Louisiana has a path if they earn it. So can they do part time TDP and play club for a non-hub club (so not Dynamo, BRSC or LA Fire)? And the Cajun Rush is definitely limited to their teams in Alex and Laffy right? Would those players do Elite 64 instead of club or in addition to club?

As far as Rush goes, yes, you would have to be a member of Rush to be part of South Select.

Definitely progress for soccer in Louisiana. Kids have options which is good thing and they should be able to figure out what is best for their situation. TDP is open to all and high school questions won’t be an issue this year. As for as the reserve players I would imagine that they would have to be member of Hub in order to benefit from Hub training.

Rush Select South is part of the Elite 64. I don’t know all the details but seems like it would include the best players from Mississippi Rush United (Three Mississippi clubs) and Cajun Rush (two Louisiana clubs) to create a TDP type team to play in this league. It was just announced earlier this week. So then the clubs that have a path to something like this now are in: Alexandria - Cajun Rush Alexandria -> Elite 64 Lafayette - Cajun Rush -> Elite 64 Lafayette - Dynamo -> MLS NEXT Baton Rouge - BRSC -> MLS NEXT New Orleans - LA Fire -> MLS NEXT Gulf South Texans - I-10 League

It’s a regional qualifier for nationals, but not the same tier as MLS Next or Elite 64 (I hope).

So if this Rush Elite 64 team played LA TDP Elite team of same age, who would win?

So if this Rush Elite 64 team played LA TDP Elite team of same age, who would win? How often will the Elite 64 teams train together? TDP teams train 3 days a week and play in toughest MLS next conference in the country. . I haven’t heard any details on 64. It sounds like it will be similar model to ODP.

So if this Rush Elite 64 team played LA TDP Elite team of same age, who would win? I'm pretty biased but I have a feeling that the 2008B and 2007B TDP teams would win pretty easily, especially with a year of MLS competition under their belt. Hopefully we can see that happen. I would pay $10 to watch all 6 boys teams go head to head in a pre-season clash!

If that is what fits for any particular player then great. Not everyone is able to commit to the travel to BR. I’m all for everyone figuring out what best suits them but I’d prefer my kid getting the regular training at that speed than coming back to a slower pace of play.

My understanding is the Rush Squads will not just be Louisiana (Cajun Rush) but will combine select players from several Rush clubs. I thought at one point it might include some Lobos Rush from Memphis but they are an Elite 64 club as well.
My total guess is a blend of Coastal Rush, Mississippi Rush United, and Cajun Rush players. Perhaps more.

Very much NOT like ODP.
Not tied to just Louisiana players. Will include players from Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, and Florida.
I believe at most age groups these teams will compete at the level of TDP or higher.

Rush combined teams may have similar talent if their top players are willing to do it, but meeting a few times a year and playing limited games will make it tough to compete at same level as TDP. These Rush teams will rarely see competition like the MLS Next Frontier league. I think this is more similar to ODP but possibly more talent. Louisiana ODP was pulling the top talent 3 years ago before programs like LA United diluted the pot and then LATDP Elite combined that talent back together in a much better format (year round 3 nights a week, top competition, etc...) Maybe the Elite 64 Rush team would be interested in a friendly match in the Fall and we won't have to guess!

I think both programs will have strengths as well as weaknesses.
The goal of both is/should be developing better soccer players in Louisiana thus increasing visibility to the players at the next level (College/MLS Academy).
I still don’t understand the constant need to tear down the various programs in the state. But whatever makes you feel better at night.

That is why I said everyone should choose what best fits them. I think any step in the right direction is good. One thing that I would stress is the 64 group needs to train as often as possible if it will be beneficial. Just the short time that kids left for middle school and high school you could see the speed of play was slower for the first few weeks of returning to TDP. Not a knock on what anyone else is doing just an observation of my experience.
