90 + 8 Wales win possession after taking Piulisic down. Hold it. pass it around, get it inside the box, pokes around, Adams steals it off Bale before he can launch shot on top of box.

90 + 9 - Lots of exhaustion on the field. stoppage by ref. checks watch. Zimmerman works it from the back, swings it around. Pulisic hobbled. USA continue to burn off clock in the back. get it to Acosta, Aronson, yedlin cross, to Morris who tries to cross, loses it. leads to break away from Wales, Turner comes out to stop attack,
Whistle ends game.
1-1. Final.

Get a tie, but it feels like a loss, because once again, we let victories slip though our fingers in World Cup games. 1 shot on goal is not getting the job done. Berhalter needs to go after this cup. He probably will.

We stopped pressing and started playing defensive in the second half. The penalty kick was a stupid foul, but we were inviting Wales to score by sitting in too deep. Doesn’t make sense to me to stop pressing when we pretty much dominated the first half.

Doesn’t make sense to me to stop pressing when we pretty much dominated the first half. I think Wales changes made that happen as they were playing more direct, pressing higher on defense more than they did in the first and we didn't respond to it. We seemed to hold possession and made it difficult for Wales to keep up, so they thought they were not going to let us have so much time on the ball and they did a better job. We seemed to trip over our own feet and make stupid decisions at times, none more paramount than the Zimmerman tackle through the back of Bale's legs. With his back to goal, and him being at least 12 yards out, Zimmerman just needed to hold him up, not allowing him to penetrate, instead of trying to clear it through the body of Bale. m Disappointed with the result. We had the win on the platter. World Cup games are hard to get wins and once again, we prove that. I do not think we have had more than 2 wins in a World Cup.

My first ever World Cup game was quite the experience. Timmy’s goal was one of the best moments of my life. Pure joy and the culmination of a lifetime of watching big matches from afar. Very thankful. I’ll do another post about qatar as a whole when I get back to land of the free.
But, once again, Gregg ruins my good time with his lack of proper adjustments. Actually thought Haji played great and did really well winning balls and holding up. But why not put in Reyna? This dude is sabotaging our team. Yedlin was poor too. Should be scally next time. Thought the CBS played a great game and pocketed Bale the whole game. I’ll forgive Zim.
Bale was somehow MOM… you should have seen the reaction from everyone when the stadium announced it was Bale… lol
On to England.

Bale was somehow MOM… you should have seen the reaction from everyone when the stadium announced it was Bale… lol On to England. Reyna and Scalley can now be used against England. Look for him to replace Weah. Yes, I said replace goal scorer. Weird! I also do not think our forward center would be an ideal fit for Reyna. Reyna is another winger. Not a central striker which matters little as to who is playing, because none of them can score a goal for team USA, because we are persistently unable to provide them service with the ball. We do not generate shot opportunities from our strikers because we can’t get the ball to them. Pulisic had a great game, but his service crossing on the corners and in the run of play is lacking. We have used this forum to document our run to this moment. We have consistently noted this. All our goals seem to come from the wingers and midfield. We have not been able to score in our warmup games. Pulisic is not going to score 5 goals unless we unlock our inability to produce scoring chances. Then, and only then, would he have that chance by making a run in the greatest tournament in the world. It was exciting when Weah scored and how we played for the most part. The result is what is lacking and that matters and hurts the most.
