2019 D3 Final Loyola and Ulab. Loyola up 3-1 at half, Ulab comes back and wins in overtime 5-4 with some of the best goals I have seen in a final for both teams. Was a crazy game. Another one was Loyola and St. Louis, can't remember the year but St. Louis won 6-5 in double overtime with all 11 goals being scored on some sort of set piece, corners, long throws, free kicks. Loyola goalkeeper scores tying goal to make it 5-5 coming up on a corner. Great game. The Loyola/ Vanderbilt semifinal that year was also amazing. Flyers won a hard fought 1-0 victory in front of the largest crowd I have seen for a HS game in Shreveport.

D1 v D3 matchup, Zachary vs. St. Michael in 2020 was one of the best comebacks I’ve seen. Zachary goes up 4-0 in the first half. I thought the game was over and would possibly see a mercy rule. But St Mike’s came back in the second half with some energy. They had a long range screamer to get their first goal, and then 4 more goals to end up winning 5-4. It wasn’t the best-played game, but that was definitely one of the most unlikely comebacks I’ve seen in this sport. Zachary was up 4-0 after about 20 minutes and in complete control. A mercy rule seemed likely, and the Zachary players maybe took their foot off the gas a bit too much. We gradually played our way back into the game and somehow won in the final minutes. That’s one of those games I’ll always remember fondly as a coach. I will say our 2015 quarterfinal against Ben Franklin that we lost at the death in extra time was an incredible game, although it is the most heartbreaking loss in program history. Our defense had been near invincible all season when everyone was healthy, and we just had an off-game that day. That was our best team since the 1994 championship team.
