I would have to say Coach Ditchendorf, who put his team at the forefront of DI soccer this year, controversy or not...

Its real simple, the coach of the champ is the coach of the year. They both have done outstanding jobs so use the title game as the tie breaker.

I'd say Teurlings' coach could be in the running, as well as Carencro's.

Yes, I would agree with Bish...Teurling's' coach is Lance Peltier and the trainer is Kevin Moody., and Carencro's Coach and trainer is Kerty Talley.
These men have done a great job with their respective teams!

Coach Ditch. He is building a program at FHS.
Interesting fact: Did you know Coach Ditch and Coach Talley at Carencro both use the Circle Huddle to motivate their teams before a match? Hmmmmmmm . . . it must work!

Coaching staffs that have done excellent jobs this year:
Airline - they were more competitive this year than in previous years. THey had a big win over Caddo to end the season and now the loss in the second round to Cro, doesn't look so bad.
Lafayette - 32-1 is impressive for any team, but to have the best year(barring the LHSAA stuff) ever in a school with this much tradition is a major feat for a brand new coaching staff, even if they are loaded with talent.
Carencro - This is a team that has been hot and cold, but through all of it they stayed together and have exceeded expectations and are really playing above themselves. Anytime a team does that, the coach has to be a big part of it.
Dutchtown - Moving from D2 to D1 is difficult. Dutchtown did it with relative ease and did it in a very competitive district. Coaching plays a big part in winning district championships and to do it in the first year and only losing 1 district game is pretty remarkable.
Fountainebleau - they start maybe 2 seniors. For a team this young to be this good and this poised when they get behind means they have two things: 1) good leadership on the field and 2) a coaching staff that believes they are never out of a game. They won some and lost some, but aside from Lafayette, they are the hottest team since the Christmas break and they have a very bright future.
Hammond - I don't think I can remember them winning a district game since I have been following highschool soccer. They won 3 or 4 district games this year. Kudos to the players and coaching staff for never giving up. It starts with baby steps.
Jesuit - it is very difficult to play a season as the reigning champ, becasue of the target on your chest. It is even more difficult when the rest of the state has been playing for 2 months before you ever step foot on a field. To be undefeated for as long as they were this year is a testament to the boys and the coaching staff.
These are just a few of the good coaching jobs that I feel exceeded expectations this year.
My pick for coach of the year would be the winning coach of the D1 finals. Both of these teams are cinderella teams, although I expected FB to be in the semis. It will be a cinderella ending for one of them and for the other, the promise of a bright 2007 season.

what about trevor watkins from SPS? SPS didn't go anywhere in the playoffs and they were one of the most talented teams out there. So even though I agree that Watkins is a great coach, I don't think he is a Coach of the Year Candidate this year.

Thanks ithappens! But Coach Ruiz, as most of you know Coach Ruiz could not accept credit for any accomplishments at EA without the inclusion of Tsumi!!

Coach Diff of FHS. U think this is a fluke? Wait till next year and the next. The pipeline is so THICK. It is my belief that Coach D is building a State Champ program and LHS and Jesuit are old news. Example.....I believe FHS has 4 seniors of which 2 start. I wonder what the programs of LHS and Jesuit are graduating?
