I don't know who all is on second team or honorable mention...but I also do not remember Ben from ST. Pablo had an ankle injury first of the season then some other problems but once he was well Terrebonne used him better. He will be very much missed next year. Are boys nominated for first team then if they don't make that they go to second?

My understanding is they decide on the top 5, then the next 5 for 2nd team at defensive n midfield and 3 for forward? Then each team chooses 2 players for honorable mention from their team.. I think this is how it is done....

Congratulations to Matt Campbell, an 8th grader on the All District team, that's pretty impressive. Shota Kamo and Phung didn't make the first team? That's kinda disturbing!

Seems like they streched to put at least two kids from each school in the District (d 3 5). Is there some rule or custom about that?

DIIID5 is a new SMALL district (only four teams). UHS and CLA are way above Runnels and CHPC. I guess they decided to allow each coach to nominate certain numbers of players (4 from UHS, 3 from CLA, and 2 each from Runnels and CHPC). I don't have any problem with that. Without those "quota," most of UHS and CLA starters would make "All-District." Yeah, I agree that Shota Kamo and David Phung should have made the first team, but the quota and the coach's decision made it that way. That list doesn't mean much anyway with only four teams....

flat 3.So each coach picks from their own team who should be all district? If so ,all district doesnt mean as much as your peers chosing you.Coach can pick his pet player , and a player who is better but maybe not the coaches ideal gets left out.

I agree. What's the quota business all about? If UHigh has the best 11, so be it. This ain't U 10. To give each school at least two diminishes the honor. Worse still, all the players know it.

All districts have their own ways of getting players to the all district teams. Quotas are stupid--I agree. Pick the best 11, regardless of where they come from. Kamo and Phung definitely should have been chosen to first team. As for the #s, glad to see only 11 players chosen to each team, with no stupid "Honorable mention". I remember a D2 District a few years ago that chose 18 players to each team (1st and 2nd--36 overall) and then 15 players honorable mention--51 players overall. For 5 teams. To quote Carlos Mencia--Dey, da Dey!

First of all, I am not 100% certain that each coach picked certain numbers of players. So please do not assume that. In the original posting, I wrote, "I guess...." Since the first and second teams both have 4, 3, 2, and 2 players from four teams (including an 8th grader!), that's what I believe. I have a slightly different take on this issue, though. In such a small district, "All-District" means so little, say, for good UHS players. Coaches may not know other teams' players (Runnels forfeited two games vs UHS, for example). While the coaches may end up picking their pet players, that may be better than picking players on whom they know very little. After all, players' own coaches know the most about them. Maybe the idea of All-District itself may not work in small districts like DIII-5.
