See: Girls High School Soccer post : What About Distict 3!!? Seems we both got another "interpretation of the rules". as the girl's teams that were voted on by the coaches were also changed by only one or two on the Advertiser staff. They used their lists from last year as they had not attended more than 2 games this year. Lake Charles/Sulpher will be printing the correct girls list, but I don't know about the boys.

Today's Advertiser contains a good letter from Coach Hardy of NISH on the Opinions page in regards to the paper's obvious "editing" of the Division I District 3 Soccer team.
'Editing' does an injustice to athletes
Recently, The Daily Advertiser published the Division I, District 3 All-District Boys Soccer team. I was disappointed that the team had been "edited," resulting in demotion of several deserving players. An injustice was done these athletes. As a head coach, I participated in the selection process and can confirm that the paper's list was not the one voted on by coaches. Each district has its own criteria for choosing its all- district team. At the meeting, we were instructed to choose eight attackers, six defenders and two goalies for the first and second teams. Coaches were unaware there would be a problem with the paper until long after the voting, when it was impossible to revote.
I am also upset because some teams appear more unfairly impacted than others. Of the five players demoted from the first team, all but one were from non-Lafayette area teams. Those players - Beau Watkins and Sam Ayers (NISH) and Aaron Williams and Rodney Jones (Sulphur) - apparently were sacrificial lambs so The Advertiser list could be cut to 11. Seven kids were bumped from second team to honorable mention. Four of the seven were from New Iberia and Sulphur. In fact, all four Sulphur players were demoted. One would suspect proximity to The Advertiser influenced the editing. The district needs to reconsider the voting procedure, but what was done this year should have been accepted. The paper had every right to insist that, in the future, its rules be met, but to prevent hurting innocent kids, the team should have been published as submitted.
