I do not think it is appropriate to call h.s. athletes losers in any context.
2 years ago this was a power packed tourney, with the finals between Brother Martin and Dutchtown. One major hurricane and a season later, i agree, it has lost some of its impact and strength. Be careful what is said, b/c in basketball the schools of EBR must play in the parish tourney and do not have the option of opting to play elsewhere.

Dutchtown and Brother Martin were not in the finals two years ago. They were placed in the SAME BRACKET and had a 0-0 tie in bracket play. A shootout determined the bracket winner and BM advanced and eventually played Uhigh in the finals.

And that final was an exciting one: BM 3 - 2 University. The last year's final was a great one, too, St. Amant 2 - 1 University.
Hope this year's tournament is as exciting as those in the last couple of years.

Predictons for the tournament:
Bracket A: St Amant- but watch out for Radi Jabour kid is pretty good for ESJ
Bracket B: U-High
Bracket C: Tara fred parker fred parker thats all i can say
Bracket D: EA
Semi: St Amant over U-High
Semi: Tara over EA slight edge im giving it to Tara
Final: St Amant over Tara (2-1)

EA will have to beat St Michaels and it will be a fierce battle!! As far as Tara beating EA in the semis... we'll see EA knows that reaching the finals will give them a good chance of revenge vs the Gators... and that's a solid motivation  |

Lee is a very good team and like to have a very physical matchup mainly in the midfield and their defense is kinda slow

Gators have to get to the finals first, and that will be no easy task. That being said, St Amant is focused on and excited about defending our title.
Dont overlook Woodlawn-they are quietly putting together a great season. Andrew Barnes has done a great job with his team this year. Uhigh vs Woodlawn will be a fun match to watch
I am looking forward to watching the C and D bracket matches. Some intriguing matches with Tara vs Lee, Tara vs EA , and Ea vs St Mikes rematch with EA at full strength this time. St Mikes vs Lee will be cool too.
Should be a good tournament--has been the last two years. I think this years field is a bit stronger than last years.

St Amant 2, McKinley 2--no Jordan Lambert for St Amant
St Amant 2, Parkview 0--Jordan Lambert w/two assists.
Gators were a bit sluggish early on but controlled most of the McKinley game, and got up to a 2-0 lead. props to Mckinley for fighting back. McK got a Pk with about 10 minutes to go and finished it, and then scored again about three minutes later when the Gator defense got a bit frantic and dove in three times. Finishing was poor for St Amant for sure. Lambert was benched for the first game by Coachray for red card in East Ascension game. The loss certainly showed up, as the Gators who rely heavily on Lambert for restarts and emotion just couldnt find the net.
Parkview game was entirely different and Lambert being back on the field made a huge difference--Gators are a different team without him. Gators controlled the entire game, but still were sloppywith finishing.
Dont count St Amant out yet--Gators still control their own destiny, and should play better against ESJ. Too complacent today

I wasnt impressed with any players from ESJ when I watched them play, what is that kids #? ESJ won two games today, they beat Parkview 1-0 and then beat McKinley 1-0. McKinley tied StAmant 2-2. If ESJ ties or beats St Amant tomorrow they will win their bracket. Who would have thought it? I have watched both teams play (St. Amant and ESJ), I predict STA by 3 |
