Yeah, they advanced with good company, bu drawing Clinton in the Semis was unfortunate.

The combination of the LA Prep Poll and the Power Rankings are interesting. Reminds me of the BCS alot. There are some obvious spots where it is right on, as well as a couple that are somewhat skewed. I thought about using each individual La Prep Poll plus the power rating poll but after looking at the individual polls, it would not make a significant difference. It would help if the La Prep Poll was increased to top fifteen. In that way, most of the top teams would be reflected in both polls. As you will note, Loyola is not in one of the polls and thus could not be combined. Bottom line, I was just having fun with numbers and I think it shows that there is consistancy in both polls. I think arguments can be made for both EA & STM being no. 1. Most other teams exchange places in the polls and that is also reflected in the combined poll. The polls show it to be wide open.

Do you mean that it is a joyous and lively sport? A merry, happy or light hearted sport? Only people that are given to social life and pleasures play soccer?

I agree that Acadiana should be ranked. I am penalizing north LA teams now because they have not played down south and when they have, results have not been top 10 worthy.

Current Top 10 Div I Records against Current Top 10 Div I and Top 3 Div II & III: Team | W | L | T | Jesuit | 6 | 0 | 0 | Brother Martin | 5 | 0 | 4 | Lafayette | 1 | 1 | 2 | Fontainebleau | 1 | 1 | 0 | Carencro | 0 | 1 | 2 | St Paul | 0 | 5 | 0 | Catholic | 0 | 1 | 2 | Rummel | 2 | 2 | 0 | Dutchtown | 2 | 2 | 1 | Caddo | 0 | 0 | 0 |
Other than validating the top 2 teams it suggests that 3 thru 10 still have a lot of proving to do. Seven of these teams are in the St. Paul Tournament (No Laf, Car, or Rum)

Are you not looking at the schedules! Shreves record is 12-4-2. That totals 18 matches. They have played 3 tournaments, ALL DOWN SOUTH!! 1. Broke bracket in Dutchtown (over Dutchtown I might add), 2. Won the Sulphur tournament, (not a great field this year, but did beat Magnet in the semis) 3. Went 1-1-1 in the showcase. 12 of their 18 matches have been down south. Only bad loss of their 4 was the 3-0 loss to St. Louis. Other losses were to St. Thomas More 2-1 in Dutchtown semi, 2OT 2-1 loss to Byrd and 1-0 PK loss to Magnet. Not sure about your criteria but in my mind they are certainly top 10 worthy. Caddo Magnet will play 3 tournaments, 2 down south. Sulphur - lost in semis to Shreve Parkway - won the tournament. They should have won it and they did in fine fashion. St. Pauls tournament - to be played. Would love to see them win the thing. Breaking bracket is certainly a good possibility. Their 2 losses occured in a 2 hour period. They came back to beat Byrd 2-1 and held off Shreve in the PK win. They also are most definitely top 10 worthy and are currently in the top 10 and in the top 5 in the power ratings. Both these 2 have come down south to play the best teams in the state. Both coaches know you have to play good teams to get better and very few teams up here give them that opportunity.

Personally I’d love to see Caddo and Byrd join Shreve down at the Dutchtown (Bayou Invitational) Tournament next year (different brackets of course). That one seems to always get a nice field of top teams. I know it takes place early in the season, but enough of the players on these N. La. teams play club ball (or should) and would still be in shape from the fall season. Pitchstalker, put Caddo and Byrd on your invite list for next year and let's see what happens!

I'd love to have Caddo and Byrd join us. IN a perfect scenario I'd like to have 3-4 teams from North LA, 3-4 from Lafayette area, 3-4 from BR, and 3-4 from Northshore/N.O. Then we could split them in brackets one from each area in each bracket so teams have an opportunity to play teams they will not normally play otherwise.

Notice I said 3-4 from those areas....most likely I couldn't get 4 from each area...that leaves a few spots for the "other" areas.... ;-)

To avoid some confusion, Ben Franklin is 3-6-1. Wins over Holy Cross, Shaw, U High. Losses to Jesuit, Terrebone, Catholic, Dutchtown, St Michaels, St Thomas More. Draw with Newman.

So Cro beat Acadiana, and Acadiana beat Lafayette. Cro is ahead of the others in the district standing. I think Cro has to be rated higher in the top 10 than Lafayette now, at least until they play one another. Also, I think a whole new thread should be started on the phenomenon of power in the Lafayette area. My gosh - these three, St. Thomas More, and Teurlings. How did this area become so strong? Population-wise, isn't this area less populated than Baton Rouge and Shreveport/Bossier? What's the secret? Great coaches? Great clubs? Great organizational people? Questionable water supply? Key factors in the history leading up to the Lafayette-area current power base would be a great study for a community trying to ratchet up its soccer program.

It all bottoms down to the starters of the soccer program in the Lafayette and the coaches they got to teach the kids and keep them interested in the sport as well as gain skill, simple as that.

i wouldnt mind seeing stamant getting a vote after their win vs east ascension friday....not a ranking just a vote...we've still got a long way to go...but progress is being made At this point and time I don't think St. Amant deserves that vote. That vote would mean that someone would have to rank them in the top 10. At this point and time, I don't see them of that caliber. However, I do feel that they can compete with these teams. St. Amant is starting to click at what some people would call the right time...
