yes, they have a couple decent center mids, there go-to forward is a blonde haired kid, they have some week spots, but they are a decent team, if they get up early, they can get in your head. Although if you get up on them early they will start to play very physical and very dirty, they are bad sports and can hurt players when frustrated, (as they are in every sport) When they played, us i think they had around 5 yellow cards and one player had 2 in result of a red. -In basketball the fans do a chant You Suck! You're Gay! You go to STA!" Good sports, i thought so too, lol -In football almost every fan, from kids, to students, to parents, to grandparents all got shirts made that said BEAT STA on them, and one of the grandparents told me they get in half-off if they wore the shirt, It was kind of embarassing, that's the Way to set the example!! And some of my friends on the football team told me that when they were in dog piles, some of the players for Pope J.P. would try to poke their eyes out threw the helmets...
So Pope is known for their bad sprtsmanship, so if anyone gets a good lead on them early, i would suggest taking out your starters, b/c they will try to hurt you.

How good is St. Thomas Aquinas this year? Would they be able to play with Newman, St. Louis, and Teurlings? We'll see for real soon. They should meet in the quarters. I'll take Newman.

As one who has been involved in soccer for approximately 20years, I believe the districts should be left the same and the number of teams getting to the playoffs remain the same. I would like to see soccer continue to grow in Louisisana, but limiting who gets in the playoffs will only lead to the elimination of the sport at smaller Div III schools where it is a fight with AD's to continue the sport. First of all, the ten districts for DIII setting started only two years ago. While your point is well taken, the fact remains that we couldn't even field 32 eligible teams for the playoffs last year, and possibly again this year. The new d3 districts are better. Wish they wouldn't break up traditional rivals like st martins/newman and uhigh/episcopal though.

For DIII, all they need to do is to finish 3rd or 4th in the district and be in Top 32 to make the playoffs (see below). We, however, didn't have enough eligible teams last year. In other words, you can make the playoffs with a 0-6 record (in a four-team district), but can't make it if you come in the fifth. Being in a large district is a definite disadvantage. That's one of the reasons why 10 district/32 team playoffs is not a good idea. We will have nine districts next year, and they will most likely take 32 teams again.... ***From LHSAA Soccer By-Laws*** 18.7 WILDCARD PROGRAM 18.7.1 Wildcard teams shall be allotted in each division as follows: ...............# of..........................# Wildcard ..# Byes Division Districts ...#Auto. Qualify Teams ...Remaining I (Boys) 9 1st, 2nd 14 (3rd, 4th) 0 II (Boys) 7 1st, 2nd,, 3rd 11 (4th, 5th) 0 III (Boys) 10 1st, 2nd 12 (3rd, 4th) 0
