Gerrard is good, Fabregas will be better. It's going to be fun watching Anderson vs Fabregas over the next couple years.

No way is Fabregas a lot better than Gerrard. Gerrard is just not utilized correctly, mostly because Rafa Benitez is an idiot. But I do think Fabregas will end up better.

It's hilarious that the term "best" is always subjective.
How do you define best? What criteria?
I would look at a particular player's overall impact on the game. Not just great moves or spectacular goals.
Using that criteria, Cristiano Ronaldo doesn't even come close...not even top 10. Yes, he's very athletic and skilled...scores some fantastic goals.
However, he isn't known for his passing ability. He can't tackle. (He's technically a midfielder so defending is part of his job description.) His work rate is lacking. He's rather selfish and is a chronic diver.
I look at players who not only make brilliant plays but also bring their teammates into the game.
Gerrard, Fabregas, Kaka, Messi.
My favorite is Gerrard. Although I think he is being improperly utilized playing "in the hole" behind a lone striker. He has a bigger impact when he plays box to box.

Ronaldo is by far my favorite to watch. I still think he is below Messi as a player all around though.
