Off topic but interesting fact. One thing I have noticed is that Ronaldinho is on all of these lists... at age 26. I dont think there is any doubt in anyones mind that he will be the best soccer player EVER by the end of his career. OK now back to the lists

1. Edson Arantes do Nascimento ("Pele") 2. Johan Cruyff 3. Franz Beckenbauer ("The Kaiser") 4. Diego Maradona 5. Eusebio ("The Black Panther") 6. Lev Yashin 7. Ferenc Puskas 8. Carlos Alberto 9. Gerd Mueller ("Der Bomber") 10(t). Ronaldinho 10(t).Zinedine Zidane ("Zizou")
My picks are based more on players who, in my opinion, changed the sport. There are great players everywhere, but these guys above revolutionized the way the game is played worldwide

1. Ronaldinho 2. Roberto Carlos 3. Edgar Davids 4. Henry 5. Nedved 6. Gerrard 7. Rio Ferdinand 8. Veirra 9. Zidane 10. Kaka I onestly dont think Roberto carlos should be in the top 10, neither should davids, henry just yet, nedved, gerrard, fedinand, veira or kaka. i think this is someone who does not know much about footy in the past and today, some of these players may just may edge to the top 10 when they have retired but onestly davids is not better than cruyff or nedved better than maradona and so on.

i think the top 10 should be players that dont play anymore, or making a huge impact on there career right now like zidane.

Ronaldo, Ronnie ahead of Pele and Maradona??? Absolutely...the things Ronaldinho does with the ball are just insane. I've watched plenty of 90 minute games of Maradona at Barcelona and Napoli, as well as Argentina national games, and I still put Ronaldinho just slightly in front for these reasons. The quality of defending nowadays is much, much better. Everyone gets behind the ball now, and in top competitions, the top defenders are supreme athletes and are coached using a more technical approach. If Maradona was playing nowadays, yes he would still be world class. However, if Ronaldinho was playing back then, it would be insane. Comparisons between the two are inevitable. The last person in a Barça to get applauded at the Santiago Bernabeu was Maradona - before Ronaldinho managed to achieve that this season. Maradona scored, arguably, the best goal ever in world cup history againt England, when he dribbled past 5. Ronaldinho's assist for Rivaldo against England in 2002 was similiar. The difference was, back then defenders tried to face up to Maradona. Nowadays, everyone just runs backwards and gets behind the ball. Yet, the player to come out to meet Ronaldinho was Ashley Cole - fast, agile, athletic, best left back in the world - and Ronaldinho left him for dead, looking like a cripple, with one stepover. Anyway, thats just an example. Plus, being english, i'd rather put a Brazilian ahead of an Argentine. And im saying all this, only a few days after the inspirational programme on BBC1 - "When Lineker met Maradona". It was truely inspirational, and enough to make me stop holding his handball against him. However, how Lineker missed that header in the last minute - he should have handballed it in. ;D With all that said - we still havent seen Ronaldinho's best years, have we?

Ahhh, so with that logic, Brentford Boy, Eddie Mercx was not half the cyclist of Lance Armstrong? Roger Bannister is nothing on todays semi pro 3:57 miler? Joe Cole rules supreme over George Best??
Good points overall, but Pele and to a lesser extent, Maradona, did what they did WITHOUT the technology, footwear, professionalism, nutrition, equipment, and dare we say it, coaching of the fine gents of today. One should never compare like for like, but more like how far ahead you are of your nearest opponent/challenger.
Is Ronaldinho a supreme talent? Sure, no question. Will his legacy be greater than Pele's or Maradona's? We cannot say that. Having watched a few films of Maradona, it would be misguided of you to say so, i hope you have watched some Pele too?? You are too busy watching gimmicky Nike commercials. Get real, lil man, I am about to .........buy you drink at Chimes East in a few weeks!

Nike commercials! Haha....how about every game he was played for Barcelona, plenty when he was at Paris SG, and pretty much every Brasil game he was played in.
But, to swing the ball back into your court...perhaps you havent watched Ronaldinho much, apart from the Nike commercials?? ;D
Ciao

Again, have you watched one single game that involved Pele? The jury demands it. I am thinking not one, as you are too busy worrying which bandwagon team to jump upon. Chelsea, Real Madrid, Barcelona. tsk tsk. Be proud of your home team heroes!!!!! My mate Tel would be upset
Re-read my post. Said nothing about watching Ronaldinho, a person with whom you are obviously obsessed:) Why are the other 31 teams bothering to show up at the world cup, it's a done deal already, right? Can we go ahead and give him the Golden Boot right now?
All bow before Ronaldinho, no one who has ever touched a ball, can compare to him, not even the oft proclaimed greatest player ever, Pele.
