I just got back from the tournament. A favorite, Caddo Magnet was playing with about 5 of it's 11 starters. As of now, St. Scholastica, Acadiana, Lafayette, and St. Thomas Moore. I think Lafayette will win. They are the only team I didn't get to see play. All the others were inconsistant and couldn't beat teams that should have been destroyed. But hey, that's soccer. Right now, the championship game is going on (it started at 7), and Lafayette should take this tournament.

Got to see both finals. St. Louis/Parkway was a great match, and was a shame someone had to lose. And the Trinity team had a center mid, #16, that according to the players that know her, made the 88 girls regional ODP team. She was all that and a bag of chips. Lafayette hung close till a goal with 2 minutes left for the final margin.

Hey Chromedome, What's your thoughts on the St. Louis / Parkway game?

Thought the Parkway/St. Louis game was a great ebb and flow game, each team had a fare shot at winning it. Parkway did well on catching St. Louis off sides a few times and the refs did their jobs in those situations.

Both Acadiana and Lafayette High Schools had their Christmas dance on Saturday night. Consequently, many starting players from both teams left to go to the dance. That accounts for the poor showing by Acadiana and Lafayette High in their semi-final game, and for the poor showing by Lafayette High in the final game.

That is what I heard at the park. However, neither Lafayette or Acadiana just laid down and quit. LHS might of been leg weary at the end Saturday night, but those players did not quit, a credit to the LHS coaching staff and players. You could tell they were outmanned, but they had fun, were smiling, and with a LUCKY bounce here or there, God knows what might of happened. Trinity did not get the two goal lead until the last 2 minutes.
Neither team, Acadiana or Lafayette, should complain. Soccer is a team sport, regardless who is there. Acadiana should not complain about losing because Lafayette was in the same situation. And Lafayette should not complain because Trinity was the better team at that given point of time.
I have not heard any Lafayette complaints, but a FEW (not the majority) Acadiana supporters I have heard complain about being short players as the reason for the loss without mentioning they were beaten by a cross town rival in the same exact situation. Bottom line... scoreboard.
;D

I help coach at Lafayette High, but I was not complaining about missing players--just offering an explanation for the performance of both Acadiana and Lafayette High. Anyone who watched both teams in bracket play, and then watched them in semi-final and final games may wonder what happened to them. I was just offering an explanation.....

You are correct Barron.... I was not implying LHS ever made excuses. I actuallly think they handled that situation well. You have a good crop of freshman from the looks of it; they really stepped up this weekend and made no excuses. LHS definately looks stronger than last year. None of the Acadiana players complained either.... just a FEW of their supporters, and ironically, were not in attendance at the semis. Probably the same few that will be really upset real soon, if ya know what I mean
