Let's see..... ONE team in each division left for north of I-10. Any way you cut it, its still ONE team left in each bracket, of 25 %.
Actually, a more disturbing number is two. Out of the 12 teams left, being you are paying SO much attention, what does the number two signify? Thats a no brainer.
School calls........ out.

In looking at who is left, it is interesting to look at the proportions of teams and it is logical that South LA will have more teams left in.
Check the following:
Number of teams
Div I - north LA (districts 1 and 2) - 10 teams
One still in - 10%
Div I - south LA - 43 teams
Three still in - rounds up to 7%
Div. II - north LA - 11 teams
One still in - 9%
Div. II South LA - 34 teams
3 still in - rounds up to 9%
Div. III - north LA -11 teams
One still in - rounds up to 9%
Div. III - South LA - teams
3 still in - rounds to 11%
Totals
Div. I, II, III - North LA - 30 teams
3 still in - 10%
Div. I, II, III South LA - 107 teams
9 still in - 8 1/2 %
Looks like it is pretty even to me - that is what the numbers really say!

If anyone has questions about directions to/from the fields, feel free to ask me. I may not know ALL answers, but I'm sure I could help.

The number 2, if I am not mistaken, is the number of public schools left in the playoffs.
And speaking of numbers, only one number matters..... the number one, the last team standing.
Good luck to all!

i don't like giving credit to the coaches of private schools or magnet schools like some people do. they get a majority of the talented players from their area, so what else can they do but win?

Why would it care whether one went to a public school or a private school. The fact that the government gives money to certain schools and not others and free education to some and not others makes no difference in the ability of atheletes at that school. The choice to attend a puoblic or private high school is a personal decision. Yes, some private school's are stacked with the best atheletes from around the area, but public high schools are larger and have a larger group of kids to pick the teams from.

Lafayette High has the gifted program in Lafayette and is considered a magnet school by LHSAA. If not, then players that live outside the district and attend thru the gifted program would not be able to play as freshmen.

It is definitely an advantage to be a private or magnet school. You can basicly pick and choose and as much as we all hate to admit it, it is very expensive to play on a Premier team, therefor, most (not all) Private and Magnet school kids have a higher economic support system. Who can afford to go to private schools? Kids that have a higher economic position in life. Where do you usually find the best coaching? Premier teams. Rec teams are made up of kids that are playing just for fun or to stay in shape. Most Premier players have higher aspirations for their soccer. The best players are concentrated at the private and magnet schools. I know that many private schools also offer "scholarships" to gifted atheletes. I know, my child was offered one to attend a local private school when she was a freshman. Advantage: Private and Magnet schools.

i hope that playa18 read this stuff. this explains most of it. also, public schools may get alot of players on their teams, but look at the quality of the players.

The benefits of private/magnet schools noted earlier are interesting. I think though, that there are some schools that have some of the same advantages you sited for the private schooles, i.e. Mandeville.

I was just pointing out the fact that kids that go to Mandeville have the financial means at home to play select that someone earlier pointed out as an advantage the private schools have. My guess would be that Northshore might also fit in that category. I am sure there are other schools that fit this profile, I am just not familiar with them.

EVER THINK ABOUT THE FACT THAT MANDEVILLE ONLY HAS 4 SELECT PLAYERS. MIGHT BE THE WAY THEY ARE COACHED. THEY DEFINITELY AREN'T RECRUITED.

Anyone questioning Mandiville's tallent and where it comes from knows nothing about the soccer program in that area. Mandiville has always had quality Rec teams, I know, my daughter played against them. I don't know what their select status is but I'm sure it's a quality program as well.
A solid Rec system along with a quality select system will yield quality high school teams. Come on, they've got great players in the area, period. Don't try and tarnish their win with unfounded alligations.
Congrats to the Skippers! Good luck in the Championship!
