Using last years final poll, the 2003 state playoffs, and knowledge of the upcoming season, I put together these preseason rankings. Tell me what you'd change, or what should be different.
In front of each name, last years rank is in parenthesis. After each name, the district number, 2003 district standing, and 2003 playoff results are in parenthesis.
1. (2)Ben Franklin (district 7-1st, champion vs. St. Scholastica) 2. (3)St. Scholastica (district 8-1st, runner up vs. Ben Franklin) 3. (1)St. Thomas More (district 4-1st, quarterfinalist vs. St. Scholastica) 4. (3-D3)Loyola (district 1-1st, semifinalist vs. Sacred Heart-New Orleans) 5. (4)Vandebilt Catholic (district 6-1st, semifinalist vs. St. Scholastica) 6. (8)Parkway (district 1-1st, semifinalist vs. Ben Franklin) 7. (5)Dutchtown (district 5-1st, quarterfinalist vs. Parkway) 8. (6)Bishop Sullivan (district 5-2nd, first round vs. St. Scholastica) 9. (-)Deridder (district 3-1st, quarterfinalist vs. Ben Franklin) 10. (-)Sam Houston (district 3-2nd, quarterfinalist vs. Vandebilt Catholic)

Hey Caddo,
Can't say I know a lot about the teams mentioned in your poll other than Dutchtown and Bishop Sullivan but I would say that Loyola needs to be in there somewhere. They moved up this year and were pretty strong in Div III last season.

Hey AICWildcat, I forgot about Loyola moving up from Division III, I'll fix the polls though. Thanks

I know Dutchtown is loaded with good players and if you're talking about St. Thomas More out of Lafayette I've heard from a couple of our players that they have several girls from BRSA and should do very well this season.
Redemptorist defeated Zachary High 4-1 last week. Zachary finished ranked in the Div II top ten last season but I don't know how many they lost to graduation.
RHS will have their first test in District on December 20 against East Ascension.
Griffan, what have the Grifs done thus far? I haven't seen the results of any scrimmages or games since things got kicked off.

I don't know the exact record of Dutchtown but they have a few ties and one loss to BRHS. We also beat Zachary in the jamboree. We tied Bishop 0-0 yesterday with 9 starters missing. We should have all but one starter back next week. We'll see how things go. Good luck RHS!

Let's hope for an injury free season and a good series between DHS and RHS. Can't wait to see Christine in action again. Kayce Schultz is playing well for us again this year. Should be a great matchup.

I was quite unsure what to do about the number 10 position on the poll, basically because the remaining teams not on the poll were all of the same caliber. Zachary has lost a lot of their good players, and that's why they were not included on the poll. I'm sure they would have been on the 11 or 12 spot. Redemptorist is a new addition for Division II, and were ranked 10 in Division III at the end of the season. I'm sure in the next update, they will break through on the poll. I didn't add them because I'd like to see how the perform against higher ranked teams. And I'm sure I'll get my answer when they play East Ascension.

Don't take my post wrong. I'm not looking for a ranking in your poll, just pointing out what we've done thus far.
We're very young with only two seniors on the team. We're in full blown rebuilding. Not to mention RHS has one player out with unexpected surgery right at the start of the season. She could be back for the district matches but how well she recovers is yet to be seen.
I have no idea how good EA is. Ascension parish soccer is very good so the Lady Spartans could be loaded for all I know. I really don't see a real test before the EA game so that will be the tell tale game until we meet Bishop Sullivan on the 27th of December.

Hey AIC Wildcat - We're holding our own considering half of our varsity is still playing Permiere and I'm sure many other teams are waiting for a full roster as well.
Tied Hahnville 3 - 3 (Scrimmage) Tied St. Amant 1 - 1 (Scrimmage) Beat Zachary 3 - 0 (20 min. game Jamboree) Lost to Baton Rouge 0 - 4 Tied Bishop Sullivan 0 - 0
Hope to do well this year since everyone is returning. Are you guys going to the Hahnville tournament?

The only tourney/jamboree we had scheduled was the Opelousas Jamboree. Everything else on our schedule is regular games.
New coach, young team. I guess he wanted to take it easy. He's a volunteer anyway so I'm sure he doesn't have a load of spare time on his hands.
