This is from The LHSSCA and was released to the Louisiana Newspapers this morning and should run in your local Newspaper soon - It was also released to your local coaches that should have voted on this poll - Check with your coach - If he doesn't know about it - then ask him to get involved so your school will have a voice.

The fact that the Opelousas Catholic Girls were not ranked just shows how much this poll is the generation of the mutual admiration society known as the LHSSCA. Ive sent my check two months ago, I didnt get a chance to vote, so as usual, those outside that little "circle" will never get a voice in this bogus organization. Carencro recieved votes in division one, we went to double overtime with them today, and the game was decided by an $#%#$%$ ref, not on the field. Ask them if OC should be ranked.

I have no knowledge of the "Ol' Boys Club" over there but I understand where you're coming from. The best thing to do is do like Al Davis says, "Just win baby!" Winning cures all those ills. It's a preseason poll for goodness sake. Step one is to make sure the coaches in your district vote. Step two, make sure the coaches you play outside your district vote. Step Three is to get your game results in the papers. Daily World? Hmmm, okay but make sure the Advertiser and the Advocate get the results too. Step Four, make some noise in here. You'd be surprised how many coaches lurk this forum. Post your results and pump your team up. Finally, polls, while nice to look at, are just that, polls. Keep the team focused on the task at hand the win district, win your playoffs and take state. It's just that simple.

Our coach DID join two months ago and was not given an oppertunity to vote. The point is made by looking at the coaches who DID vote and what their teams are ranked. The rest of us are being shut out. I would not be surprized if only 6 or 8 coaches voted and they are all in the top ten, same as last year. Why don't you check and see?

AICWildcat is absolutely correct. We went through the same thing last year at Dutchtown. Just let your W's and L's speak for themsleves and everything else will fall into place. Chill out, don't fret the small stuff, and enjoy the ride because it ends way to soon. My daughter is in her senior year and it's hard to belive I won't get to see her play next year.

I apologize for posting the rankings There is absolutely nothing to be sorry about. I for one greatly appreciate it. just because a few get their feathers ruffled because their team is not "ranked" does not mean you shouldn't post the polls. If you have the ability to get the polls out to this site faster than it can get to the papers please do so whenever you can! And if you're worried about the polls sparking debate, hey, that's why we're all here! To boast about our teams and enjoy soccer together in a friendly way. You will see the occasional ref bashing but hey, it is soccer after all!

I bet the message thread is still in here somewhere Griffan! I remember we started pumping up the Grifs pretty late in the season, talking about players what there record was and who they beat and BOOM, the Grifs made the next poll. Same thing happened for Redemptorist. A coach can't vote unless he has some knowledge of what your team has done. This ain't football where there are TV shows, radio programs and entire sections of the paper dedicated to your sport. It takes noise! If your team steps up and beats a ranked team or a team that in a higher division get the word out! Word of mouth is very powerful...we saw that last season.

Since we seem to be missing the point, Ill repeat it. My issue is with the "fairness" of the system. I totally agree that if you do well on the field people will notice. I also believe that respect is something you earn. The ONLY POLL that really matters anyways is the one in February. I am also not "shooting the messanger" and these polls should be published. Not publishing would give people the impression that there is something to hide. That is NOT the issue. The issue is WHO is getting the opportunity to vote and WHY other members dont.

The issue is WHO is getting the opportunity to vote and WHY other members dont. I'm pretty involved in our team and I can say the coaches vote in the poll. That answers part one. The second part is much more difficult to answer but I'll take a shot and please, pardon my frankness. We're talking about girls sports here. Now, my daughter has been an athlete since she was in kindergarten so let me say up front I support women's athletics 100%. But at the same time I've seen the lack of interest by the school administrations all the way through. I'm sure this filters down to some coaches. Also I'm sure many coaches are volunteers and don't take the time or have the interest. Many don't have information on teams throughout the state so how can they vote? It would take considerable effort on an individuals part to scan the local papers over the internet and gather info on teams outside of their respective region. I really have no other explanation for the poor polling during the season. We never did get a final poll in girls soccer. Add to that we (Griffan, myself and others) were prodding our local paper about the all district and all metro teams only to find out that the coaches had not sent in all the necessary information. Bottom line, girls soccer does not rank very high with the general public, the schools and many coaches. As long as I've been involved in soccer I've seen many people in this sport who are very passionate about it, who respect it and put it above all other sports. From what I've read from you I believe you may be that type of individual. But you must learn to temper your expectations a bit when it comes to high school soccer. Can we make it better and more popular? Yes, but it will take time and effort. Remember, get your coach to vote, get your opponents to vote. Outside of that it's pretty much out of your control.

ocssoccerfan needs to quit talkin and complaining about his team not being in the top 10. I mean my gosh its the first freakin poll of the year and you think that you have proved something. I doubt you have with a 1-3 non-tourney recored. Yea let me tell you..thats a recored that should be in the top 10. Big freakin deal...you "HANG" with Carencro. You want a cookie??? You beat one of the most horriable girls teams in the state (Menard) and another team that pretty much is the same but that makes you think that you deserve to be in this poll. Start TEXT REAL games and not games against teams like in yall district.

OC's record is 3-4-1, you are correct "dude" that they have not beaten a "quality" team yet and their coach does not believe they deserve a ranking. He also has enough "class" to ever refer to another team as "horrible" or "stinks". If I am "overzealous" because I support and cheer for my team, than ok, take cheap shots at me annonymously thru a message board if thats how you get your jollys. But every team that steps on the field and tries their best, win lose or draw, deserves a level of respect. Menard is young, they are replacing a large group of seniors that graduated, and are missing a few select players who are in tourneys. They have a wonderful coach and their young girls have no "quit" in them. Sorry they don't measure of to your standards "dude".

Hey! What happened to the original poll?!? I wanted to see the changes!
I see OCS cracked the top 10 in DIV III and it looks as though my comment about Loyola had some effect.
What gives Caddo?
