The game will be Saturday evening but nothing will be finalized until Acadiana finishes it's district season @ Westgate tonight. I have heard that if a game is played, it will be for the district championship, not just seeding.

Does anyone have an authoritative answer to that question? Will Acadiana and Lafayette High be co-champions with the next game used for seeding purposes only, or will this game decide a district champion?

This game will decide the district championship. There will be no "co-champions". The game will be played at LHS at 6:00 on Saturday. Plenty of time to see STM / Mt. Carmel @ 1:00 @stm and then go to the LHS/AHS game. Not a bad day for soccer.

STM/Mt. Carmel? Did Mt. Carmel win DI last year? District this year? Does STM have a chance? Bet Acad and LHS are at the earlier game.

Mt. Carmel won Division I state championship last year - beat Lafayette High in a shootout. Haven't heard much news on them this year due to hurricane. Acadiana High and Lafayette High will be the better game - same division, same district, BIG rivalry. STM very good - capable of beating Mt. Carmel but the game to see is AHS vs. LHS.

Here's an opinion. The LHS player was fouled and taken down in the box. A pk should have been awarded if it was in the first half, second half, OT, 10 minutes left, 35 minutes left, or 1 minute left. If it was a foul and you said yourself that it was, it should have been called. It sucks for a game to end on a PK, but in another minute it would have anyway.

Heres a opinion. Compared to all the other so said fouls he let go, this was not even close to being a foul. One min. left in over time and he calls a pk. That has to be the worst way to end that big of a game or any game. The foul is not considered a foul or not a foul by the color jersey you were going for because it wasnt just AHS players or parents admitting to it being a terrible call. I had plenty of LHS fans tell me the call was terrible.

heres another opinion this was not a rookie ref calling the game. he has plenty of experience. the foul occured 1 or 2 feet in the box. IN THE BOX people see what they want to see. the ref was maybe 20 feet away. closer than all the fans , all the coaches and most of the players. its amazing how many refs we have in the stands. this may tick off some of you who know me. get over it. if he had not made the call, there would be more screaming here . either way the goal is to be back in lafayette for the state finals . lets hope both teams get there. both teams played a great game , lets remember that. 3 games 280 minutes of good, hard, emotional, leave it on the field soccer.

Well said LADYRAM dad - it's refreshing to see an objective point of view.

heres another opinion this may tick off some of you who know me. get over it. Ladyramdad, from my view in the stands #8 (don't know her name) should have been credited with the assist not #15 (Verret) is this an objective point of view? Just my opinion, get over it. Of course then we should discuss what really is considered a assist.

I was at the game last night, not supporting either team, just interested in watching good soccer. No one wants to see a match decided by a PK in the last minutes, coaches, players, fans for either team, and I'm sure the referee. But I saw the foul, and thought it was consistent with the calls the ref made all evening. A foul is a foul whether it's in the penalty area or at midfield, whether it's in the first 5 minutes or at the final whistle. Unfortunately it was the AHS player that fouled the LHS player that caused the game to end as it did. Not the referee.

observer 2, the assist was confirmed by 2 coaches and 2 other observers, and yes, assist are a sore subject and since you wish to stoke the fire, the standard definition of an assist is the last 2 players to pass to a player who scores, with out the play being broken up by a defender. of course there is more to this definition. but high schools generally use these qualifying items in order to award an assist. and most first assist are missed because keeping track of the players handling the ball is not easy, especially by one person.
