I think Catherine Thompson of Vandebilt is a very skilled player. I watched her in the Opelousas game, and once she got the ball there was no stopping her. She is also VERY FAST!

Also in that game she scored 5 out of the 8 goals against Opelousas.

first of all, one dimensional player? have you seen her play? no ball skill?? you have got to be kidding? or have a personal grudge to say something like that. I think it is ridiculous to say that about such a player. She is definitely talented at shooting with the outside of her right foot, but it is by far, not her only skill. If you would look at her schedule and at who she has scored against, you would retract the last comment also. Think before you type.

I agree with the above post she is definitely one dimensional. Can't dribble , no left foot and I have watched her play.

Best female player: Dorrie Vaughan. I don't really think anyone that's ever seen her play could argue with that.

Has to be Renee Hrapmann/Benson...
Hrapmann is the All-American National team member... I would say Benson, but she and her team couldnt get it done vs Mandy so Im gonna stick with the FHS star

Here's the bottom line,,, At this stage of the ships it comes down to having an edge, that edge is directly proportional to the effectiveness of the COACH and how he/she utilizes the talent given before him/her. Sure there are some really good players out there as individuals, but a good player is one whom makes others around them better. Just my thought,,,,

Sure there are some really good players out there as individuals, but a good player is one whom makes others around them better. Just my thought,,,, Agreed...coaching IS important. A good coach is one that puts their team in the best possible position to win. Good coaching doesn't always equal good results - the coaches can't get out there and play. However...the cream ALWAYS rises to the top...good players do as you say(make their supporting cast better)...but...THEY ALSO FIND A WAY TO WIN. A good stat to look at would be game winning goals, not TOTAL goals scored. The SEC keeps this stat. This leaves alot of defenders and GK's out though...just speaking what's on my mind. One more thing...you need to look into what "gets" you All-American honors in HS soccer. Who votes? How do you get to vote? What are the minimum, qualifications to be nominated.? I am not taking anything away from these players...and, I don't know the answers to the questions I posed. Maybe someone else will find them out for me. I was just wondering exactly how and why certain players were all-american and others not...players of equal soccer ability. Wow...glad I put that last part in.

Hrapmann is the real deal, until someone shuts her down without leaving one of her team-mates to seal the deal for THE TEAM. I would say if HRapmann is the best player still out there, the company she is keeping is mighty small, Maybe Danielle Johnson from Parkview, maybe.

4 from sacred heart, lightning quick, runs like a deer 14 from mandeville
after seeing sacred heart for the first time last night, whatever opponent they face in the final game is going to have a tough row to hoe.. i was very impressed w/ their coach and his understanding of the game, his players, and ability to put his players in positions to maximize their talents.. made some interesting coaching moves, and all worked.. sacred heart was the best girls team i have seen this year

I agree with the above post she is definitely one dimensional. Can't dribble , no left foot and I have watched her play. One dimensional or not Ms. Thompson post the numbers and knows how to win. She is the kind of player you hate to play against and would love to have 11 just like her on your team. She plays 100% the entire time she is on the field. I don't always agree with what she does on the field but you have to admire the intensity of her game. She will have to utilize more of her skills at the next level. Right now let her enjoy leading her team to a state title. Good luck Vandy girls. The school may enjoy 2 state titles this year.

This would be a huge win for Vandy band their girls because they haven't been to the state championship since 1996. Good Luck Vandy1 Go get cha one!
