Woodlawn (with four seniors missing - 3 taking ACT, 1 injured during the week). defeated Walker 1 - 0 when Sarah Collier raced under a ball chipped over the top of the defense and she beat the Walker Goalkeeper for the only goal of the game. 2nd game Woodlawn 0 U-High 0. Both teams missed a couple of chances, but no luck for either. Two seniors returned to the fields in time to bring WHS up to 12 players for the final match of the day. Woodlawn 1 East Ascension JV 0. Woodlawn moved ball through defense Kaylin Naquin finished from close range. WHS had a couple of more chances but was unable to finish them off. At the end of the day Woodlawn finds itself in unfamiliar territory, playing on Sunday for and the rights to claim to be a champion.

Div II Finals: U-High 2 Woodlawn 0 Woodlawn started with 9 players added one for intermision then played last five minutes back down to 9 due to injury. First goal came on scramble in the box after a corner kick. second was after a questionable (aren't they all if your team gets the short end of it) call, just outside of the penalty area, defenders failed to set up any kind of wall, shooter had clean look at entire goal. Rest of the match went back and forth with neither team finishing opportunities. Beautiful weekend (little cold Saturday morning) for soccer.

Newman was by far one of the most talented girls teams i have seen play.. solid from top to bottom, well coached, and more team depth than most teams in higher classifications... after seeing them play in the tourney final, i would think anything less than a state title would be a disappointment
