Ben Franklin currently 2-5: wins over Vandebilt (3-0) and St. Amant (2-0); losses to Newman (2 x 0-1), Sacred Heart (1-3), Vandebilt (0-2), and Country Day (1-2). That record may well get worse before it gets better, with friendlies scheduled vs. Mandeville, St. Thomas More, and Mt. Carmel. It should improve once district play begins in January.

barbedad20 - I spoke to the asst coach last night who emails the Brian Hall's site and she had only been sending stats - not records. He got those from the refs reports. She will get that corrected with him. Our record is 9-3-1 currently with the Warren Central Tournament coming up this weekend in Vicksburg and then we play Catholic of New Iberia next Friday.
As a reply to the kid at Ouachita who is asking the inflamatory questions - I would guess the coach called them in and do not know why he did not have those - ask him.

What about doing an overall rankings of all divisions together and then break it down by division. It just seems like they get a little watered down when you have teams with four and five losses in the top ten and we are not even through December yet? Just an idea.

It's a little early for a top "13" laffan even though it does create a lot of good discussion. The polls are only watered down if you don't know who the losses are against. A good example is the current # 6 in Div. I has lost to Mandeville, Fontainbleu and Mt. Carmel but beat the # 12 you have listed in your top 13. Records can be misleading if you don't have all the info. You have several teams in your top 13 that don't have posted records on the board so how are they ranked against the ones that do have the info? Good thread that should generate a lot of good dicussion though.

soso, you beat #12 in a scrimmage 1-0 without a number of starters and a new coaching staff. Don't get carried away with that win.

soso, you beat #12 in a scrimmage 1-0 without a number of starters and a new coaching staff. Don't get carried away with that win. I was trying to make a point about ranking teams without posted records and not knowing who their wins and losses were against. I thought that was a good example. Anyone that was at that game would agree it was a scrimmage in name only. Both teams are playing some good ball this year and it's a shame they won't play again but that's the way is. I'm not getting carried away with that win. I was dissapointed with the way THS finished runs that game and thought it was more like a 4 - 0 game that they didn't put away. But that is just my carried away opinion.

Rankings don't mean anything. They just give people something to talk about. Your program has done the right thing with the early season schedule and has hopefully progressed from these games just like Vandy has. Hopefully this year another program from the Tri-Parish can join the girls elite ranks. All the best.

I agree with arch. These early polls don't mean a thing. The only thing that matters are rankings that the state makes January 30th when the playoffs begin. THe best thing for teams to think about now is district play and winning there districts.

Has anybody looked at the playoff brackets? It seems odd and I am sure no mistake that all of district 3 top three teams are in the bottom half of the bracket. It's plain that they do not want a all district 3 final again. Now district 5 was split between top and botom. It is time for power ratings in this sport.
