There will be a Mardi Gras Parade Friday the 16th in Lafayette at 630pm. It would be best to avoid Lafayette/Johnston Street and the Cajun Field area at the Bertrand and West Congress intersection. I would suggest that the easiest route to Lafayette High School on that night is as follows: if you are coming from the east Exit I-10 at exit 100 Amb Caffery Take a left and cross over I-10 , stay on Amb Caffery. There will be an overpass for the Rail Road tracks and then cross Hwy 90. There is a McDonalds and Sonic on the right. Follow Amb Caffery as it goes toward the Mall of Acadiana veering off to the right Stay on Amb Caffery till you get to the West Congress intersection. At that intersection there will be an Albertson’s Shopping Center on your Left and South West Medical Center on you right
Take a left on West Congress. You are now heading east on West Congress. Lafayette High School is on the left @ 3000 West Congress. The field is behind the school on the Foreman Drive side

Directons above from east like Baton Rouge If you are coming from Lake Charles ie west same exit just don't have to cross over the interstate

LEObacker- thanks so much for the directions, we really appreciate it.
Hey Barbedad, since Barbe has faced both Lafayette and Fontainebleau can you give us your take on the differences and similarities of the two?

Don't give aid and comfort to the non-D3 enemy. We've got to stick together. ;D

Oh come on guys, just looking for a little insight. I tell ya, I still remember what Lafayette did to us last year in a matter of 8 minutes (scored 3 goals). The fact that we have to go there this year won't make it any easier.

Hey Barbedad, since Barbe has faced both Lafayette and Fontainebleau can you give us your take on the differences and similarities of the two? I will give you my expert opinion.....Let's look positon by position and then my prediction. Remember, Barbe has played these 2 teams 5 times this year (2-2-1) and each time I leave more and more impressed. Fowards: My edge goes to Fontainebleau. Macey and Tarbell are better, faster and better skilled than any 2 fowards Lafayette puts on the field. This is the one position I think Lafayette is weaker this year versus last. Wings and Mids: No question my edge goes to Lafayette. Chelsea is the best wing we have seen all year and the job Hopkins/Molly does at mid are as strong as any mid line in the state. Defense: Edge goes to Lafayette with Clara being the best sweeper in the state. Lafayette has yet to give up a goal in the playoffs and I think Barbe is the first to score against FHS so it should be a very low scoring game. Keeper: Even. Both keepers are excellent and confident. Coaches: Edge-Lafayette. Both great coaches and the record of Katy Breaux at Lafayette over the last 4 years is top notch. Not the first rodeo deep in the playoffs for the Lady Lions. Intangebles: Edge- Lafayette. Home field is huge and you will see a huge, loud crowd on hand to support the Lady Lions. So my prediction. Lafayette scores in the first half on a set play (they are dangerous) on either a corner kick or free kick and plays defense for the 1-0 victory. The bottom half of the bracket is the strongest side and the Championship Game will not live up to the billing as the FHS/Barbe was or FHS/Lafayette will be. Winner of the game wins state 2 or 3 to nill.

Winner of the game wins state 2 or 3 to nill. Sorry "BarbeDad", but i will have to disagree with you from a players point of view. I agree about the forwards, FHS has more speed and better footskills. Lafayette's wings are their strong point on the attack. Chelsea is really dangerous if you give her that first two touches and she'll punish you for it. As a midfielder, i think fontainebleau's centermids are faster and alot more aggressive to the ball. If you take more than two touches (if that many) they're right in your face. Lafayette's defense is really strong, and they know how to use the sneak attack from the back. This game will be really close, but if fontainebleau plays their game like they are capable of they will be up 1-0.

Dominican did not have a chance to beat Mount Carmel, Mandeville, or Dutchtown. I quess they don't have a chance in the finals either!!

I think they have just as good a chance as any team. Just let all the swamie's of the state keep them as underdogs just like Laffy has been in most cases, look where it has gotten them. I know it frustrates those who think the team is not getting the recognition they should get, but making it to the finals will shut them up. They can argue there are better teams out there but they are all at home or in the stands watching the rest play.
Good luck in the finals, except if you meet the LIONS!
