You were right on with your game summary. I think shot count was SHHS 1 and DR 8 or 10, DR could not find the net. And as for Sam Houston defense they have come together and played extremely well lately. Please let the Coronel family, all the Bronco family would like to send our thoughts and prayers out to them. Also good luck to the team in the playoffs, we know you will represent our district well.

District will not be decided until Mon night when DeRidder and Tioga play. If DeRidder wins, they would be champs and Tioga should be 2nd place

Not yet.....DeRidder still has a game with Tioga on Monday night that will decide district champ. Standings as of last nite: DeRidder 7-2 Tioga 7-2 Sam Houston 7-3
So the out right champ will be 8-2 and two teams will be runner-up with 2nd place seeding purposes for the playoffs being decided on head-to-head, with goals scored being factor. We need other Districts to post(other site)their district standings so we can start to figure out the whole playoff bracket. Div II elimated all the extra wild card spots(only 2 this year). Hope this is correct and helps...........

Here is the situation: 1. Tioga wins Monday, they are champs. 2. Deridder wins, they are champs. Tioga and Sam Houston would be tied on record, but Tioga would take the #2 from the district due to head-to-head plus goals (aggregate of 6-1 in Tioga's favor). 3. There is a great possibility that the 3rd place team would get a wild card.
Teurlings is the #1 in District 4 and Opelousas is #2 in District 4 (from what I can gather from results and word of mouth).

There is always argument that the entire team, not just one or two players make a difference. However, I would like to play devil's advocate here. Tioga's Morgan Burlew (top goal scorer) and Michelle Campbell (sophomore) were out with the flu for the DeRidder game and Tioga lost 5-0. Sam Houston was the next game and they were either still out or recovering from the flu, so Tioga dropped two in a row, the only two district losses. Jeanette and Rachel are out for DeRidder due to family emergency and DeRidder drops two games in a row, one to ASH, who had only won 2 district games. No disrespect to ASH, I don't know the circumstances of their bench and whether they have injuries. Again, no disrespect intended to Leesville, who has done great this year, but DeRidder almost lost to Leesville. I thought DeRidder would have a clean sweep this year and then the Coronel sisters were out, putting them in a position of possibly not winning District for the first time this year. The last game is pure pressure for these two teams and it really comes down to who didn't play in previous games and who will play in this last game.
I thought this district was weaker this year than it has been in a number of years. Peabody is still trying to build a program. ASH lost a lot of senior players and is rebuilding. Leesville has done great with what they had, but the coach loses players each year, not to graduation, but to moves (due to the base), so there is never a smooth progression of team. Sam Houston and Tioga both lost a lot of players last year and are not at the strength they were. DeRidder lost a Coronel sister last year but gained what some have said is the most talented of the three girls and had what I thought was a clear shot at being the Champs again. So it is literally down to the last game of the year. Stay tuned folks, girls' high school soccer is a lot of things, but it is never dull.

imthebackseatcoach is right on the money on this game. It whould be pretty good, especially if all the key players are there. I think the DeRidder will only be without 1 person, pretty key player, but the Coronel's should be there so we will see. Good luck to all but GO DRAGONS!!

With everyone back, Deridder-Tioga should be a great game. I missed the last one (sick kid), so I haven't seen the Deridder girls/parents since DI. Look forward to making my FINAL trip to "Dragonland."

Deridder-5 Tioga-0
It was a great game even though the score doesn't suggest it. Deridder is district champs. Tioga has to settle for second.

Make that 6:00pm. Time changed, but I don't know the reason. A player told me of the change.
