"We never doubt our players' effort. I just think our district didn't prepare us well enough for the playoffs," Breaux said. "We'll look to fix that problem in the future [/b]

That should hang in their locker rooms next year lol... YOU LOST .. don't blame your district! Beside.. I don't think the better team won (sorry Barbe.. good job) They just won that night, You play them 4 more times and I think you win 3 of them. JUST DON'T BLAME OTHERS!

thegator, if you know anything about anything, you would know that playing tough teams heading into the playoff do prepare you for the long haul. What the coach said is true. Our district is WEAK, so weak in fact that our JV squad could have finished SECOND. Our starters played probably 20 minutes of each half and the coach played 30 players in those district games. There were halves where they were not allowed to cross midfield until ALL 10 players touched the ball without dthe opponent touching it. If the opponent was to touch the ball the count starter over. Now explain to me how these types of games help a team that is that much better than the competition. It wasn't until the Quarterfinals that her starters played a full half and full game. How can you be in game playing shape just practicing against the second best team in their district everyday, their JV.
It will be like that the next 4 years in this district, I'll bet on it. I know the coach would rather play STM, SSA, Mandeville , Mt. Carmel, St. Louis and any other team that caliber all year and then have a playoff instead of playing her district games. She believes that you must play the best in order to get better. It is not about the W's and all the wins until come district and the playoffs.
If you want to ask someone who has been in this situation in the past for a second opinion, call the STM coach. His STM team in the past have been the ALL DISTRICT team. That is how it should be when the voting comes out this week. Is that a competitive district when there may be 3 players at most that could maybe earn a spot on the Lafayette High team. Believe me the Coach was totally against splitting the district the way it was split, simply becasue alll the tougher teams and good rival game went to the other district.
By the way she wasn't BLAMING the other teams she was just stating the facts. Barbe dad knows how Coach Katie feels about the situation and what I am saying is the truth. And taking nothing away from Barbe we still feel that we had the better team but Barbe had the better team that night and that is what the playoffs is all about. Who is the better team tonight?

Did that winter break trip to sunny SoCal toughen up these Barbe girls enough to win it all?

Why do people keep stating "for the next 4 years?" Re-districting is done every 2 years, maybe STM moves back down after next year???
