Can someone tell me how I would go about getting in the mix for reffing High School soccer games this winter?

I just started this fall. Is there another class I need to take?

there should be a high school clinic coming soon. There you should be able to get the needed info on when the tests will be administered. Take the test and pass it. Then pay the association fees to get on board with the assigner and put in your availability for possible matches.

I am also interested in reffing high school games, i.e., the dates for the high school referee test, or any other games taking place this winter (I am a college student at the Savannah College of Art and Design and am in New Orleans until Dec. 27th). I am a grade 08 referee living in Destrehan and am happy to ref or assist in any games going on.
-Thanks, Scott M. Warner

My advice would be to continue refereeing club in 2011 and go to www.lhsaa.org/officials_associations.php?sports_id=10 to identify your local association (I think Destrehan is considered part of Crescent City assoc. - Hector Barrios). Then you'll have to take an online test and rules clinic next fall to qualify. That's it - go do some club tournaments and talk to other officials. Right now, you could do middle school/8th grade teams. Technically, they do not need to be registered with LHSAA. However, if you leave N.O. like you said, then you'll have to talk to other referees wherever you go, as other places outside of LA have different seasons. Unlike FIFA, there is no formal class around - just self-study. Good luck
