The Shell Shockers blanked the Nashville Metros 2-0 this afternoon at Tulane SoccerComplex with attendance of 650. One goal in each half. Kenny V played the final 15 or so and William Wilson played about 6. Both made contributions. I believe GK Geraci was the 3rd u-19 player on the roster. Next home game is Saturday May 19 at 7:30 vs. Memphis. It was hot but an enjoyable game. I liked the overall play of outside fullbacks Benjamin and Lambert. And Luis Reyes at o/s mid. Tico made several nice passes. Pate in the middle made it tough on Nashville. One red card handed out by referee Brian Koons for a second tackle from behind.

Great game to watch, I don't know the names yet, The 2 attackers Roberto and the other big guy are very talented, but seemed to tire in the 2nd half. The outside midfilders also started very strong, but they 2 seemed to tire in the 2nd half. Pate in the middle was a force the whole game. The 2 outside defenders Benji / Lambert were very solid throughout, the 2 back central defenders also played well, very few scoring opportunities for Nashville. 1 of these defenders was U-17 BJ Neilsen, he played the full game and made very few mistakes. The other youngsters Kenneth Visquez and Will Wilson came in late, they both played very solid, they both looked like they belonged out there, look for both to get more playing time in the future.
The Nashville team wasn't a slouch. They beat Lafayette 2-0 last night, if you go to their website you see that they have several college all-americans, and several players with professional experience. I'll be back to watch them play. - Go Shockers

For a u-17, Neilsen had exceptional game as a central defender in his 75 minutes or so. I didn't give the 2 center defenders higher marks because their communication isn't there yet (the Nashville forward kept getting offside, but 1 defender or the other always stepped back to keep him on). Nashville had 2 good chances in the first half but were kept o/s the attacking 1/3 in the 2nd half. The first goal by Marco Enamorando was a beautiful volley. You could see him wind up and "AVE AT IT." The second goal by Jonas Lopez was the result of a good effort by, I believe, Roberto Carlos Najarro. Tell me, who will replace Marco next week at attacking center mid?
