While we wait for the playoff brackets to posted, the great neutralizer which could making seeding obsolete is of course Mother Nature. Looks to be downright nasty for most 1st round matches -- feeezing rain! What style of play will it affect the most -- passing, possession, and patience, or long balls to forwards? The weather shouldn't affect the top seeds, but could affect games like 7-26, 8-25, 9-24, etc.

Great questions. I think the playing surface will be a huge factor. Turf vs. what is left of the grass fields. Even the better teams will be slowed down some due to poor field conditions.

Latest weather forecast in the Mandeville-Covington areas has rain Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with temperatures ranging between 28-34 degrees all week. Will make for interesting soccer.

We have a chance for some snow on Friday. Not going to be nice until Saturday when it is supposed to get to the low to mid 50's.

Lhsaa has never granted an extension of dates. It really looks like Thursday is the best chance for minimal rain, unless you have access to a turf field and can play tomorrow. But likely no coach will want to with no practice today

After seeing the weather forcast for Thursday and Friday are these girls really going to have to play soccer in these conditions? Throughout the state it will be raining, sleeting or snowing with very cold temps and wind. We're risking many injuries........

LHSAA gave a couple of schools an extra day a year or two ago for a similar situation. Wouldn't be the end of the world to extend things until Saturday. Might be tough to get referees with everyone playing on Saturday though, but I'm sure it can be done.

Saturday would ideal. Many schools could host a double header, boys/girls, and use the same refs.

I think some are missing the point. It is the travel conditions that are a concern! Sleet and ice and school buses don't mix! Delay until Sat. is the best answer for teams having to travel from north to south.

100% agree. St. Amant and Live Oak have to travel north to play Caddo and West Monroe. Natch. Central has to travel south to play Dutchtown. There will be exceedingly dangerous driving conditions tomorrow and Friday. At a minimum, those games should be played on Saturday.

Uhigh has moved their game to Sat. St. Fredrick's was having to travel down. This is much safer!

Did they get permission from the LHSAA? I thought that the games had to be completed by Friday, under current rules.

If both schools agree to go past the given deadline by LHSAA, then it can be done. However, both schools need to notify LHSAA of the delay so that they are not looking for the result.

know the north is still having issues, but it's a beautiful day in the southern part of the state -- clear skies and chilly in BR. Game time temp for our noon game with Zachary should be 45-ish.
