I have seen both St. Amant and Caddo Magnet play, and I expect this to be a good match. But I am going to have to give Caddo Magnet the nod in this one. They are a great team with many quality players and just don't see them losing in the first round.

My Double Jeapardy Upset Specials --
I love the way BRHS plays defense, but they struggle to score, and Chapelle is better than people are giving them credit for. Chapelle 2-1.
EA is dealing with tragedy, and my heart goes out to them. They will either rally emotionally, or they'll be flat. I hope they win, but my gut says that Terrebone is playing the "no respect" card. Terrebone 2-1.

thechamp, I think what gets to people, (I mean me) is when someone uses the term "great team" when talking about a team with numerous loses. We should come up with glossary of terms for this forum. My suggestion would be:
Great team - undefeated and can't be beat (better hands down) STATE CHAMP no doubt. Good team - a team that can compete night in and night out. Has a chance to win the State Championship Pretty good team - they can win their district, but I hope we don't get beat too bad in the playoffs. THEM - those teams that have a team to say their school has a team.
Nothing against Caddo, its just that my hair stands up on my neck when terms get thrown around and people just say, WHAT?

I noticed that Mandeville finished second in their district, however is seeded higher than FHS who finished first. Has this ever happened before? FHS finishing first in this district and not losing a game in the month of January with wins over Mandeville, SSA, and Northshore compared to Mandeville losing two games in the month of January. It seems like winning the district and being the hot team would be enough to put them ahead of Mandeville.
It definitely didn't work in favor of FHS who might have to see a district rival again in quarterfinals if both teams are to make it that far. Again, just curious if this has ever happened and if so has it ever happened to teams seeded this high?

Sorry SJA Dad I gotta give my Lady Bulldogs props. They've come a long way this season and they have figured out how to find the back of the net against good teams. Defense is their strength for sure, but I fully expect them to take care of business in Bi-district. It'll be a close one, but BRHS comes out on top 2-1 or 2-0.
It's a shame SJA and Zachary have to meet in round 1. I'm sure both teams would rather variety over a third match.
I'll also join oldhattrick in his upset pick. St.Amant is a scrappy team. They could easily pull the upset there.

Sorry Sokerfan, I did not mean to get under your skin, but last time I checked everyone on this message board is entitled to their own opinion. I clearly stated my thoughts about Caddo Magnet and that's from my own opinion. Everyone on this site has different understanding of what a "great team" is, but thank you for clarifying your definition of great teams. I am certainly not taking anything away from either team, and have nothing against either one. Good Luck to BOTH teams in the playoffs.

Sorry popsoccer, its br high over chappelle. I also agree with hat's picks for Div I with the exception of EA and Terrebonne. I think Terrebonne advances in a 2-1 match.

Cudos---SJA Dad and popsoccer both got the Chapelle 1, BRHS 0 upset? Right! If you were at the game, it was not an upset. The score was decieving as many soccer games are. CHS was the better team.... Plus CHS got 2 yellows for rough play, but when the BR keeper came out late in the game and had a take down fouled on a break away play (i.e. last, last defender, understood as automatic RED not even a warning was given) no card was shown. Go figure! Don't know the real shot count but it was something like, "BR really scared" "CHS in control."

oldschool, I believe ladydragondad has misinformed you, or I am not interpreting the rules correctly. If both teams in the bi-district round were winners and played on their home fields, then the higher seeded team will again play at home in the regional round. Just found this:
18.8.5 Regional Round of Play 1. In all divisions, any team drawing a bye in bi-district shall be home team. 2. In all divisions, the team that traveled in bi-district shall be the home team. 3. If both teams traveled or were home teams in bi-district, the higher seeded team shall be the home team.

There is discussion on this site regarding placing the champs from particular districts in the playoffs. Where is the logic of placing a 3rd place team with a losing record (including defeats by D-II teams) in the playoff bracket?

There is discussion on this site regarding placing the champs from particular districts in the playoffs. Where is the logic of placing a 3rd place team with a losing record (including defeats by D-II teams) in the playoff bracket? I will take the bait since I know you are a Shreveport poster and my team is the 3rd place team who made the playoffs with a losing record, including losing to a few D2 teams. Please tell me why my girls don't deserve to play a playoff game. The reason we have a losing record is because we are an inexperienced team with a coach (me), that knows if you don't play good teams you don't get better. Because of this I scheduled Byrd 3 times, STM twice, Neville, Loyola, DeRidder, etc and other teams that I knew would be tough but appropriate competition. It would be very easy to make up a schedule where we have a good winning record with inferior teams in North LA. What does that get my team developmentally? Nothing. So if you would like the playoffs to be district winners only or the top 12 teams in the state, then that's fine but the North LA teams need to be prepared to go home after round 1 almost every year. My Shreve girls lost 4-0 to a good Byrd team and enjoyed their playoff experience. That's a good enough reason for me. While money is a driving factor in all things, you get out what you put in. I will use this experience with my team to get them experience in a higher pressure game and we will continue on a path of improvement and have a great time along the way. I apologize if my team wasted anyones time or money today. We know we are small fish in a small pond but hard work, teamwork, and being dedicated to a goal goes way beyond the soccer field.

Copa, I totally agree with you. The only way to build a program is to show your players (and parents) what good soccer is all about. If you put your team in a situation where they win all there games and never play anyone they will never compete against the best in the state. And what is the D 2 thing about? There are good and bad teams in all 3 divisions. I know what kind of coach that your girls have. Maybe next year, or the next, the shoe will be on the other foot. Then who is gonna be happy that a 3rd place team makes the tournament?
