St. Joseph's 3 Zachary 0 on a very wet and sloppy field.
Zachary threw a blanket around Anna Helm until injury time in the 1st half, when Leah Aultman found Helm in space and she converted. 1-0 @ half.
Helm converted in the 51st minute on an assist from Maggie Wilkins.
Jessica Dismukes converted on a cross from Emily K in the 58th minute.
Zachary had some chances but SJA dominated the run of play. Zachary is young and will be a force in the future. Congrats Lady Broncos.
Your match stats --
SJA with 43 shots (22 OG) Zachary with 3 shots (1 OG)
Zachary's goalie was huge with 21 saves. She is very athletic and nimble.
SJA plays the winner of West Monroe and Live Oak being contested today at 3:00 on an icy field in Monroe.

Hhmmm ... District 9's three teams lost by a combined 34-0. Where's that person that said all district champions should get a top seed?

EA 1 Terrebonne 0 - goal came in the fourth overtime (the second of the two 5 mins golden goal) Both teams dealt well with the brutally muddy conditions. EA 17-16 on shot count. Momentum went both ways. EA controlled beginning of the game, THS definitely finished strong first half. THS controlled first 12-15 of second half 80/20, thereafter i believe pendullum swung more with those numbers in EAs favor, especially thru OT.
THS missed a PK. Both teams hit the post.
I'm very grateful to Coach Ray and Terrebonne girls for their willing to support EA in this tough week where we lost one of our angels. The ribbons were an extremely nice touch. You guys are a class act.

Thanks to Coach Wilbur and his DeRidder team for their hospitality. It was a beautiful day for soccer, and my team really enjoyed the opportunity to play one more game (experience is everything to such a young team). Good Luck to you guys in the playoffs!

"bring it on" seemed to be the theme of the McKinley girls this year! This was definitely the theme for round #1 of playoffs as well! From the fight for transportation to the weather throwing kinks in our plans, we overcame all obstacles! Benton gave us a very physical, competative match! Our girls pushed through a freezing water covered field all the way to PKs to decide a winner. We were in shock and disbelief when a goal was denied because in the official's orinion our player studder stepped on the approach. Not only was the goal denied, but was not allowed to be retaken! So glad I thought to bring my rule book to the field! After much discussion..... it was determined that the kick was allowed to be retaken, but not by the same player because she should have been cautioned. Granted, no caution was given! SHe still was not allowed! We were all freezing and I was obviously not going to win the argument and was just glad I won the right to retake! BRING IT ON was about all I could think! Her replacement kicker's shot was blocked. Onto kicker #6! We won with this one! Phew 3 hours of emotions running high ended with our girls standing proudly on the side singing the alma mater! Proud moment!

Proud moment! Tammy: Although it shouldn't be necessary but it's to your benefit that you had your good ole HS rule book with you. To the benefit of the referee he was at least good enough to let you show him the actual rule in the book. There are some referees that would have told you he/she didn't need to see the book, that they knew the rule and cautioned you if you had persisted, which I'm sure you would have. Coaches should all read and study the HS rule book and be as knowledgeable as the referees. As Tammy has shown, it can pay off if you are knowledgeable and know the rules and talk to the referee.

Not sure how they would have been able to stop my protest! So glad we didn't have to find out! Hey........ I had my book!!!
I agree that this was a game all players from both teams will never forget and should be proud to have been a part of! The fans certainly got their money's worth as well.
