Mount Carmel score around the 32 min of the second half. They converted a PK in the 36 min of the second half and one more goal in added time.
Great effort by the Westgate defense. We will miss our two Senior in the back next year. Good luck Mount Carmel.

Regarding the Dtown/ DHS game, I missed the play so I can't comment on the red but I didn't hear very many arguments about it from either side. The game was a real nail biter all the way. Dtown had many scoring chances in the first half and hit a goal post but Dominican's defence came to play. You just can't play shorthanded and expect to beat a good team and these teams are very evenly matched, in my opinion. Give credit to both teams for a very hard fought game. Please remember that Dtown is very young losing 7 or 8 seniors last year and I want them to know how proud I am of them.
Thanks to the classy Dominican fans that had very nice things to day about Dtown as we left the field.

What a fantastic game tonight between Mt. Carmel and Westgate! Lady Tigers rose to the challenge. Score was 0-0 until 77 minute of the game! Best wishes to our 2 seniors, what a great year of memories! We will be back next year and Mt. Carmel, we look forward to playing you again. Good luck in the playoffs!

Old Hat Trick the Dtown red was early in the second half. I know I'm going to get killed for this, but I'm only saying it because I thought it a fair game but the young center ref should be reminded not to wave and say hello to the fans/ parents of one of the teams that he is about to ref for before the game. It looked bad when play got rough and he had to make some really tough judgment calls. Having said that, I thought there were calls that could have gone the other way on both sides of the ball and it was a well called game. Good luck to DHS against a really good Mandy team!

West Monroe 2 St. Josephs 1
This was a thrilling game. St. Josephs came out and dominated the first 20 minutes of the game. No 8 for St. Josephs is an excellent player. She kept beating kids on 1v1s and making fast runs all night long. West Monroe finally got tired of getting knocked around by St. Josephs and finally started to make a game of it late in the second half. Becca Dupuy got free on the right side and send a great cross that got knocked in by Aly Leggett. West Monroe up 1-0 at half.
The second half was a very tight game between both teams with the ball going back and forth. Both defenses were excellent. With about 8 minutes to go, West Monroe gets a ball in the box that Simone Willis is able to put in the back of the net for a 2-0 lead. But, don't get too comfortable anyone. St. Joseph comes back and scores with about 3 or 4 minutes left to make it a 2-1 game. And, that is how the game ended.
I was very proud of the West Monroe girls. After playing district, they were not ready at first to take on a team of the caliber of St. Joseph. But, after they realized that they were in for a dogfight, they stepped it up and began to fight for every lose ball. A hard fought win. St. Josephs was a very good team.

Excellent summary Gerrard. A tough, physical game. SJA probably doubled WM on shots as well as SOG, but WM made the most of their opportunities. Possession @ 55-45 SJA. Gerrard's scoring summs on point.
A disappointing end to a good season, but there are 31 playoff teams whose seasons will end with a loss.
SJA losing a terrific senior class, led by Anna Helm and Leah Aultman, both of whom showed tremendous leadership.
Kudos to WM fans and parents -- very classy and hospitable. Good luck ag/ Mt. Carmel.

I have to hand it to West Monroe, they took advantage of the two good scoring opportunities they had by making strong crosses, getting girls in front of the goal, and finishing - very aggressive in front of the net. The West Monroe keeper played very well - making nice diving saves and clearing crosses and corners from in front of the goal. While SJA controlled possession and generated more shots, WM was able to prevent SJA from getting many quality chances. SJA had a few good opportunities, but couldn't quite convert. I had the following stats for the game:
Total Shots: SJA 20 (6 on goal) WM 6 (2 on goal - in this case in the goal)
Corners: SJA 6 WM 1
Saves: SJA 0 WM 5

As a VERY proud mama of a Westgate Lady Tiger (#6, to be exact), I have to say one thing: It's been one, hell of a ride this season! Our girls have gelled as a team and risen to the ranks of true competitors. They leave it all on the field and I am so proud of their commitment and dedication to this sport! Also, thank you to all who have given encouraging words along the way. Aliceshoe1, we appreciated the "doormat" article. Our program has come a long way in the last 3 years due to the leadership of our beloved Coach A! He loves his futbol! We are 'facing the giant' in tonight's game and we couldn't be more encouraged. What a honor it will be to compete against the ultimate competitor and see exactly what we are made of. Best of luck to all! Go Lady Tigers! Some of us pay attention to the cyclical nature of sports, and Westgate has been improving the last few years. Nice run by Westgate, was not at game, but if I had to guess, depth caught up with them tonight. And depth is one of the keys to winning state. Now the trick is to keep it going; be proud of tonight, but not satisfied, desire more. Though I no longer live there, proud of my homies... Ditto congrats to W'gate on a break-out year. I didn't see the MCA game, but WHS probably had MCA's players, coaches and parents scratching their heads and saying "why haven't we scored yet" and "what's wrong with us?" This season, it looked like W'gate knew who they were and how they wanted to play. They completed for every 50/50 ball, played stingy/safe defense, would move the ball across the field to relieve pressure, and then often mount a counter-attack. I think that means the coach did a good job of coaching and the players all bought in to what he wanted them to accomplish. Good luck in the new Dist 7. Show Terrebonne, Central Lafourche and the others how it's done.

I think you got this one backward here.
Just because SJA has two outstanding players does not mean that they were not a team. If you watched the game last night you would have seen one team mounting attack after attack on the goal with the other simply disrupting rhythm and sending long balls to their 1 outstanding attacking player.
I give the W. Monroe girls a lot of credit. I have not seen a group of girls as committed to playing hard and never giving in, all year long. But this game was a contrast of styles and lopsided everywhere but the scoreboard (where it counts).
Congrats to W.M. and their coaches. They played extremely hard last night. They will give MCA fits if they continue to play like that. They proved last night that tenacious defense and one good run from #7 can win a ball game.
Watch out Mt. Carmel. The Rebels are coming.

Becca Dupuy is a beast! Unfortunately or fortunately, depending on how you look at it, long ball works when you have an outstanding player at the end of it. Possession does not always equate to win in soccer. And W. Monroe is made up of more than just Becca. Sounds like W. Monroe is peaking as a "team" at about the right time.

Route 1 soccer, the old english way.
This is one reason I give W. Monroe a real chance at beating Mt. Carmel. If they stay as committed as they were last night. They have a great chance to make a deep run. Would not surprise me a bit.

OK. I'm a fan of Ascension parish soccer and I'm a long time reader, but a first time poster. I can usually read all the comments and take them with a grain of salt. I love the debates, the arguments, the facts, the feel good stories, and just being able to keep up with Louisiana soccer in general, but I just can't take it anymore. "watsagriffin" is driving me nuts. After reading this forum for quite some time now and getting a feel for the "regulars" I'm sure there are others that feel the same way. I know I should be the bigger person and let it go, but I can't. I will try to keep this mature so that the moderators don't pull this one off the board. I wish watsagriffin would get his info straight, quit stating his opinion as fact and then placing "I wasn't there to see it", "as far as I know", or "These thing I say may or may not be 100% accurate so please don't hold me to it", and most importantly quit embarrassing his school with his unfounded and sometimes ridiculous comments. I was at the game and in my TOTALY biased opinion the red was mistakenly given. The player in question was trying to remove the defender that was laying on top of her and pushing her to the ground. There was no punch thrown. Whether the red was right or wrong it was a heck of a game to watch to a 0-0 with EA winning on PKs. Inaccurate. I was there. Punch was thrown. Red was the correct call. Although he did state that he had a bias. The other red was for retaliation against very aggressive defending I believe, I wasn't there to see it, and the soft red for arguing with ref over non calls. Obviously we didn't want our leading scorer out for the rest of the year but it is what it is now and the other girls will have to step in. The ref depended on his linesmans judjment in this case as his back was turned to the play but if they believed there was a punch thrown how can you not give a card? You retaliate you get a penalty. Very aggressive defending is not an excuse. Notice the use of "I believe, I wasn't there to see it". If you don't know what happened let those that do state the facts. The red in question was actually for kicking at an opposing player while she was on the ground. That is fact since that info is from people that were actually at the game, on the sideline, watching the game. "The ref depended on his linesmans judjment in this case as his back was turned to the play..." That's part of an AR's job. It is not taboo for a center ref to use the judgement of his AR. I hope watsagriffin is not suggesting that if an AR sees a player ninja flip over an opponent and judo death chop them in mid flight as the center's back is turned that he should not raise his flag. Ok I think we need the cone of silence for this one. Hypothetically, if there was a player out there that was percieved to have 3 red cards, the supposed 'soft' red was not recorded and there is no lost time. The missed game was a 'coaches' decision as far as I know. These thing I say may or may not be 100% accurate so please don't hold me to it. No the missed game was an administration decision.], but notice the cover "These thing I say may or may not be 100% accurate so please don't hold me to it." Once again - if you don't know then be quiet. Wow there is a lot of good stuff here! How can you report a red card for a send off if the player couldn't be sent off as the game was over and the player was having a private conversation with a teammate. I'm probably over the line here but the same player was grabbed by the jersey and held back earlier in the game and it was let go by the refs. Obviously I am biased so I am wondering what's up with this ref. I know full well that he could have missed it as my viewing point was not at field level. I have to think that the coaches made sure she was eligible before playing her tonight also. Let me say that I have learned more about this sport in the last couple of weeks of reading these posts than the first 10 years of of time I have spent involved in it. Thanks to all. As posted by SJA Dad... Rule 5 -- The Officials SECTION 1 GENERAL ... ART. 2 . . . The jurisdiction of the officials shall begin 15 minutes prior to the start of the game and end with their leaving the field of play and its immediate surroundings. They shall enforce the rules, and their decisions on points of fact are final. As far as the missed calls by the ref...Why is it that many parents, players, and fans can only see the calls the refs missed when the foul would have been for them? I have rarely seen people post "Wow! We really got away with one last night. The ref missed that call and we are able to keep on pushing up the field and score" Yea we are not concerned about the Gibbs situation. History. But look out for that spunky little soph. Xxxxxx Xxxxxxx who decided to take over the game with 3 goals when her misguided father told her she could have a new Iphone if she scored 2 goals this week. I guess she wanted a cover for it too. Her dad must be a knuckhead. Let the coaches and the masses spout compliments for you. It will come across as more genuine. Also I would hope she would want to score goals because of the pleasure of the accomplishment for her team not the fact that she needed to score in order to get a new phone. Regarding the Dtown/ DHS game, I missed the play so I can't comment on the red but I didn't hear very many arguments about it from either side. The game was a real nail biter all the way. Dtown had many scoring chances in the first half and hit a goal post but Dominican's defence came to play. Please remember that Dtown is very young losing 7 or 8 seniors last year and I want them to know how proud I am of them. Thanks to the classy Dominican fans that had very nice things to day about Dtown as we left the field. So in one game you weren't there to see the red and in this game you weren't watching so you can't comment on the red, but you still end up commenting. How can you be at a regional playoff game watching your team and not pay attention? Unless you were in the restroom or getting some hot chocolate in which case I retract me question. "I thought there were calls that could have gone the other way on both sides of the ball and it was a well called game." Was it a well called game or not? Sounds to me like you think he missed some calls. Or was it a well called game because the number of calls you believe he missed in your opinion were at a minimum? Also, I hope you are not trying to insinuate that the referee might have showed favoritism to your opponent just because he said hello to some people he knew from your opponent's side. Referees should try to eliminate thoughts like that by not interacting with teams or fans, but I don't know of any refs who are out there just to help their favorite team or only to unjustly call against another. I can imagine that it must be a rush to have your child playing varsity soccer for a strong program like Dutchtown. Great accomplishment on her part! But there is no need for you to come on here and remind anyone of how many goals your little angel scored just because the coaches didn't list it or how your team is full of innocent little angels just because you don't feel the coaches have jumped into the forum quick enough to defend their girls. I just don't think the coaches see that much of a need to hurry up and get on here to defend themselves or their program from the naysayers. They know the people that matter the most will know the truth. And I bet you dollars to donuts that they cringe when they see ridiculous posts from parents trying to "help" them out. If you read this board enough you'll notice that many times it's the parents getting on here and running their mouth about their own children or their teams stats and accomplishments or innocence. Many coaches come on here and list their games and scores and maybe a superior performance or two. They don't feel the need to get in here and tussle it up with the "fans" because most likely it isn't worth it. A good example of "Class" is your school's boy's head coach Larry Chamblis. He states facts in his comments and does not do a game recap publicly. I would follow his example if I were you. It will only make you a more respected poster on this forum. ???Those of you that picked Dtown to lose early can wallow in your grief!!! Watsagriffin.... I know you are from the girls forum so you may or may not venture on to the boys side very often... I'd very much enjoy your support in the stands, but very respectfully ask for no "trash talk", anything that might be interpreted that way or anything other than fact stating when referring to the Dutchtown Boys in this forum. We appreciate your support and passion for Dutchtown, but work very hard in fostering the attitude of earning respect on the field with our young men. We look forward to seeing you in the stands! Although I don't think this is really advice as much as it is a very polite way of saying please keep your mouth shut on matters pertaining to the Dutchtown program. This is just my opinion, it is not fact. A smart (phat) man on this forum once said "That's just my opinion and everyone knows what they say about opinions". Have a great day and I wish much luck to your daughter in her soccer career and to your Griffins soccer program.

I think that I am going to disagree with both of you. First, West Monroe has more then one good player. Becca Dupuy didn't play defender or sweeper last night. And, she didn't actually score either goal. Same for St. Joseph. No. 2 the sweeper and No. 8 the center mid/forward were outstanding. But, they were not the only players on the field making plays for St. Joseph. Now, the these girls were clearly the focal point for a lot of what the teams did. No question about it. But, they were not alone. Not by a longshot.

Most post on W.Monroe called out the team - just noticing that's all. Sorry if it offended.
