Since it is hard for coaches to see all worthy players from across the state, I thought it would be nice to have people start nominating/mentioning players that are All-State worthy.
When listing players, list their school, position and class. Please keep this list to players worthy of nominating/mentioning for All-State honors!

Isn't it difficult for coaches to vote on a players worth based just on information posted here? Terms used to describe the players are subjective at best, and without seeing someone play, I don't see how one could vote for them b

DHSKWC, too much is made of these "leading scorers" in the state. We all know they are good players, but you have to admit, the great majority of these goals came against the less talented teams. Case in point, look at the playoffs. How many goals did these "High Scorers" score against the better teams in the playoffs. The fact is, not many. Hence, an early exit. There could have been a lot of girls with plenty of goals had their coaches not substituted for them against weaker teams. This is in no way meant to take away from their accomplishments, but just saying, the majority were scored against teams not even mentioned in the playoffs.

sarge384 & happyjack are absolutely correct. Not all good players will advance in the playoffs but they will score against good teams as well as the weaker teams. The coaches who truly care about the game will vote for the players who are truly deserving and not misled by the stats that will be posted on this board.

So when a coach votes he should not look at stats. He should trust the word of an opposing coach who is pushing his/her own player. As we all know 1,2 or 3 players do not make a team, so is it possible to have a girl or girls with outstanding stats, still loose in the 2nd or 3rd round of the playoffs.

Well to all, I think the young lady mentioned "Lexi Gibbs" has proven she can score on whatever the competition is, which she has done throughout the last 2 years for sure. so let's get that off the record for this future LSU Tiger player. However, I do agree, that although this doesn't apply to who DHSKWC is mentioning, it may apply to others who have run high numbers of goals against lesser competition. The truth of the matter is the following aspects are what will play into a coach's vote for all district and all state: 1) Knowledge of seeing the individual player 2) Knowledge from the individual player's coach 3) Any available knowledge of an individual player's stats 4) Knowledge of the individual player playing permier or ODP (yes, believe it or not, coaches will choose one over the other if there is a difference here between two players) 5) Name recognition from who is on the nominee list 6) The string of adjectives regurgitated on this forum about an individual player (this applies to the coaches that actually read this forum, and can believe the source). #5 probably plays a higher role in All-State due to the fact All-District should have a lot more from 1 and 2 since they are held typically in a face-to-face meeting, while All-State is a ballot.

Very good post, oldhattrick3. Completely agree with your assessment on all-state voting and Lexie Gibbs. I would also add, for teams that are in the northern part of the state, that it helps to have a good showing by a player against a southern team to begin to get the recognition for all-state. If a coach has seen the player's name on this board, then can match name to player during a game, that helps tremendously. But of course the player also needs to play well! But that is the benefit to putting names on the board. Simply to help coaches recognize players they haven't seen before.
