Early Predictions : First congrats to the final 4, it is extremely difficult to get to this point of the season so its time to take a moment a realize your accomplishments..................then get focused for the task at hand. 1 Mt. Carmel vs 5 St. Scholastica - Mt. Carmel continues to play at a high level at the right time. St. Scholastica coming off a big win (after 2 losses) to F-bleau. Early meeting between these 2 had Mt. Carmel victorous 4-1. Tough one to call: Mt.. Carmel over St. Scholastica +1Common Opponents:Opp | Mt. Carmel | SSA | Sacred Heart | L0-1(PKs) | W4-1 | Dominican | W1-0(PKs), W1-0(PKs) | W6-0 | St. Thomas More | L0-1 | T1-1 | Northshore | W1-0 | W2-1(OT), W2-1(OT) | Fontainebleau | W3-1 | L0-1, L2-3, Quarters:W3-2(PKs) |
6 Dominican vs. 7 Lafayette - Didn't see either one of these getting through the last round, but they proved their calibar on field. 2 real good programs will battle it out at Pan AM. There only meeting during the regular season ended in a 0-0 tie. Although this one is tight for me, I have to go with: Lafayette over Dominican E - sorry sokerfan I know you wanted me to pick against Laffy Common Opponents:Opp | Laffy | Dominican | Fontainebleau | T0-0 | W1-0 | Mandeville | T1-1 | L0-1, Quarters:W2-1 (PKs) | Vandebilt | T3-3 | W2-1 | Sacred Heart | W2-1, L1-2 | L0-3, T0-0 | West Monroe | W1-0 | W4-0 | St. Thomas More | L0-1, Quarters:W3-2 | L1-2 | Mt. Carmel | L0-2 | L0-1(PKs), L0-1(PKs) |
* Good Luck to all 4 of these Great Teams *

oldhattrick3, never too late to change your mind. 2 evenly matched teams, I will go out on a limb and predict that the team that scores the most points before the whistle blows will win. Just my opinion, agree with me or not.

I know there is more to it, but the head to head for each of these seems to indicate that both of your picks should be opposite.

The Doves are goin to win it all. 3 peat. Dynasty. Mike O is a beast of a coach when it comes to the playoffs.

I know there is more to it, but the head to head for each of these seems to indicate that both of your picks should be opposite. As I said on d-3 thread, its just data and there are many types that you can throw up. Its just food for thought and even with this data it has many variables, when in the season did they play (early, middle, end), who's missing, etc.

Four excellent programs and two great matchups. I wish all the girls well and hope all of them play to the best of their ability.
MCA has to travel to SSA. They did this during the regular season and won 4-1. I saw a part of this game, and MCA dominated. I do not think that they will be able to do the same this time; the game will be much closer. Both teams are playing well, but I think MCA will still pull this one out. MCA 2-1
Unfortunately, I have not had a chance to see Lafayette play this season. Everything I have read says that they are playing very well. I have seen Dominican play, and they play tenacious defense. I could see this one going all the way to PKs. Both teams just played tough games. Mental toughness is going to be the order of the day. I give Dominican the nod due to being in their home surroundings. Dominican (0-0 4-3 in PKs)

When MCA played SSA early it appeared that MCA had something to prove after last year's final. MCA played inspired ball while it was just a "friendly" for SSA. No doubt though MCA is clearly the best team SSA has faced. Then again MCA was the better team last year too. If MCA is big headed they will lose.
The winner of this game will likely win state. Should be a great game.

wideout, I know I was chasing a 2 year old for some of the game, but from what I remember at the Mandy tourney was a very even game. Outplayed, NOT. I don't have the stats in front of me but I think everything from shots, to shots on goal, to final score, it was pretty even. And possession was about 50 / 50. Should be a good game, would prefer to win or lose in anything but PKs, but wouldn't be surprised if it goes to a shoot out. We are prepared if it goes to that. I just hate the fact that a keeper or a player leaves the field feeling that it is their fault they lost, when we all know it is not.
We need to push for another solution to end the game besides PKs. I have an idea. At the end of regulation each team MUST remove 1 player for the start of the 1st overtime. (Hence 10 vs 10) Another player is removed at the beginning of every period. Then at the end of the second golden goal period, would it go to PKs. Would it help the team with the better individual players or would it help the teams with the better TEAM play. Just a suggestion.

ecolintman - If I were the coach of SSA, I would be telling my players exactly what you said. However, reality is that neither of these teams likes to lose against the other. The games are always competitive and hard played.
You are right in that if MCA players get overconfident, they could come down hard. SSA gets the first goal, and MCA is thinking,"Here we go again." On the flip side though, if MCA comes out strong and takes the game to SSA scoring the first goal, SSA has the December game in the back of their mind. Both teams are playing great soccer now when it counts.
With the quality of players on the final four teams, these games will come down to who takes advantage of the few opportunities they get. Should be exciting.

We have played three of the four teams and I have watched Dominican a couple of times. Both games will be very close. All four teams are very skilled and very well coached. MCA vs. SSA - Have to go with SSA 2-1. Coach Mike and the Doves seem to always find a way to win when it comes to the playoffs. Lafayette vs. Dominican - Lafayette has a "great" back line (Sokerfan hates the word ) Probably the best defense we went up against. They allow very few quality shots on goal. Not to take anything away from Dominican, I think Laffy's defense shuts down the Dominican offense. Lafayette 1-0.
