Judice played in 2 matches, the last district match and a first round playoff match. There are no qualifications for being named to the state team. District 5 (CHS district) requires players to play in 50% of district matches to be eligibale for district.
But let's look at this honestly. Here is a player that was a starter for 3 years, and would have been for his 4th if not for a club match injury the last game in the club season. He signed a 4-year scholarship to Memphis, which I believe finished ranked #23 in the nation last season. Without a doubt, he is the best player in his district this season. Does he deserve the honor? Yes, he does. Is it fair that he gets it and only played 2 matches? Well, I'll leave that to the coaches who voted, they think it was fair. After all, many of them voted for him over their own players.

Somebody's a Covington fan.
Did he deserve any awards? Last time I checked, the All-State team isn't a lifetime achievement award. To assume he would have been the best player this year in our district is pretty dumb just because he would have been a 4 year starter and is playing in college. A number of players actually did start 4 years and had every opportunity to play in college as well. Don't get me wrong, I don't care that he is on the all-state team and I do believe he's good enough to make it. But saying he's without a doubt he's the best player in the district this season? Need to remember I also played in this district.

Umm... Tough situation about the injury for such a player. I hear what you're saying about Judice - an undisputed great player, so great that most of the coaches had apparently already conceded their votes to him before the season started, but MHS has the more valid argument in this case - All State should be based on the performance for the current year, not past history or what might have been. Oh well, it's over and done with now, and I congratulate Mr Judice on his exceptional high school career, but in fairness to all maybe the coaches should think about this and come up with a policy similar to the 50% district play rule.

I would bet most coaches did not know he was injured & didn't play most of the season. Maybe the the coach that nominated him should be qustioned.

To address all of the inquiries about my nomination of Frank Judice to the All-state team: You may totally disagree with what I have done, but when you hear my reasoning, you may have a better understanding of my position. I only nominated Frank because I thought he would have made it had he not been taken out by a cheap shop in a rec match prior to the season. It was basically my way of saying to Frank that I believed in him as a player and a person. That being said, however, I didn't think he would make it because it was common knowledge that he was injured. I honestly was nominating him in consideration for what he had done throughout the course of the year. He was a leader in every sense of the word but just couldn't play. As a matter of fact, his name was spelled wrong on the All-State ballot and I didn't even bother to have it corrected. Why not, my intention was simply to nominate him - as apersonal gesture from coach to player. Now that he has been named first team though, I guess some would ask if I have regrets. The Judice family has been overlooked for quite some time as far as all-state is concerned (see Tony, Nick and Jeremy - between the three....one first team selection and one second team selection - and thats not including Olivia on the girls side (she played in EVERY match) In the past my nominations were few and I only nominated players I felt should have been considered. This year with Frank was an aberation. I have given my reasons for his nomination and I feel as though my actions were justified. If you choose to disagree, that is your perogative. As for MHS 10 - I felt like Tyler Cochran was the best player in our district this season for one reason only - Frank Judice wasn't playing. Also, ironically, we played against many of the teams that usually vote. Those coaches were well aware of his absence. To Mrdashriprock and crespo - I hope what I have written earlier clears up the "why"Frank was nominated in the first place. In short, he IS a great player and while things didn't go as I intended, I couldn't be happier for Frank or more proud of the drive this kid showed in coming back. Good luck in college MHS 10 - it sounds as though you are going. I will also add that while I personally feel Frank was a better player than Tyler, I also believe Tyler is a top notch talent that was deserving of first team all-state. I wish you(MHS 10) and Tyler the best. Coach Inman

if a player doesnt even play in his high school season thats taking a spot away from a person who went out there and gave it everything he had for 90 min. No offense to Frank but if someone doesnt play most of the season and still gets on al state then the system is messed up. yes i agree that if coaches hear your name from season to season that you would be at a higher chance to be on the all state team but if u dont play then that playeer doesnt deserve the award regardless of past play

a, well said I had the same thoughts. I believe some deserving player was omitted because of a coaches good intentions. Coach I respect what you did and why you did but did you think of how you negatively impacted another player. Also your referral to other family members being overlooked weakens your case that this was a noble gesture. What someone's brother or sister did has no place in this discussion and it weakens your justification of why you nominated a player who did not earn the nomination. Life is not fair and you tried to be the one to level the playing field and as a result you are now part of having a deserving player overlooked as you claim other Judice family members where . Bad call coach.

well the thing at HL is that the coach is a 1st year coach... and he up up a lot of players for nominations.. some of who shouldnt be there... he put all 10 seniors and 1 junior on our team up for that... but he excluted many players (those who should be on that list instead of some seniors)... he misunderstood everything and i think he knows that...
any questions? ill be more than happy to answer them..
