Congratulations to all the girls. We need more north Louisiana girls ranked I assume most of the coaching voting for this are from south Louisiana. I do think more girls from the North should have been picked.

Do not know how many coaches voted or where they were form. I do know that if a team from the north plays a team from the south, like Lafayette and W. Monroe did, then if a player stands out the opposing coach will ask about that player. Like the keeper for W. Monroe was praised by the Lafayette coach, especially when she found out the keeper was a freshman.
All it takes is to "show up ready to play" when facing the better teams in the state and you will get noticed. Do this on a continous basis and coaches will have to notice you. Rule #8 that aliceshoe put out there has some merit but there are still those that are noticed because of the reasons I just mentioned. Example is Melanie Rabeaux (senior) does not play soccer outside of high school, she is a volleyball player. She has just worked hard every game to shut down the opposing teams best forward and for her efforts she was voted 1st team ALL STATE for the last 2 years. Nobody knew who this girl was until she made it tough for the opposing team and then coaches had to take notice and ask, who is that girl?
Just have to work hard and play the teams of the coaches that take the time to register and vote for these honors.

I do think more girls from the North should have been picked. Since this is an LHSSCA selected team it's probably done the same as the Top 10. Which is one member from each District is selected to vote. Again, I don't know this for sure. Perhaps TIMBERTWIN can let us know.

I assume most of the coaching voting for this are from south Louisiana. I do think more girls from the North should have been picked. I hate how everything gets turned into a North vs South issue. In my opinion this is why the South has more representation in polls and selected teams. Look at the districts; only two are in the North and eight are in the South. Unfortunately, I believe that when it comes to voting issues the North will likely struggle for representation. The North only has nine schools. This past year the South consisted of over 40 schools. The deck is stacked against the North. Therefore, I urge teams to come down to the South or plead with teams to travel North to play against some of the top schools in the area. I know that financially this might be tough for schools to accomplish. For example; West Monroe did this past year and they proved their mettle and EARNED a #8 ranking this past season and had players on both the All-State First Team and All-Freshmen First Team. Again; this is only my view of why there is a North vs South look to everything. Hopefully this opens everyone's eyes to why it appears to be a North/South issue to everything.

I know Byrd travels down South to tournaments and goes to Dallas to play. Its actually easier for the teams in Shreveport to play in Texas -better fields and competition.

cowboy05, that makes sense for teams from Shreveport to travel to Texas as opposed to traveling the 5 hours to New Orleans area. But on the other hand if they want to be recongized, somebody has to see them. The teams they play in Texas can't vote for the ALL STATE team honors. They need to be seen by those who vote, which means playing the teams from the south. It's that simple.
There is always a possibility of playing at Northwestern or in Lafayette at UL. The girls get to play on a college field and teams could meet in the middle. Example: Byrd versus Mandeville at UL soccer stadium. Now how nice would that be.

In order for a coach to nominate a player they must be a current member of the LHSSCA.
