I thru West Monroe in from past experience of being strong and seeing some common opponents in in most recent games... I tend to stay away from tournament results because some may be a little scewed from time constraints and coaches will tinker with line ups to see under classmen play in these events....Byrd I see is playing in the Mandeville classic, but again a tournament with 2 games a day so I know all will be doing this.. I would place West Monroe a real long shot and Font. and Mandeville dark horses..... 5 and above I feel are the real contenders... Good luck to Byrd though you never know...P.S. Also this may not be the case here, but tournaments are sometimes played during holiday's and players may be missing which sometimes could be significant...

I have a ton of respect for W Monroe but the game with Byrd was 3-0, non tournament. Tournaments or not, all games should be considered for all teams as it is still a reflection of the TEAM, its depth and conditioning, its strengths and weaknesses. The Mandeville Classic is not a tournament but 4 games over three days and no winner is delcared, technically although it will still be discussed and argued. Just like basketball and baseball tournaments, you have to play with what you have over two or three days. The best thing Byrd can do is go and win some games in Mandeville and the rankings for all teams will take care of itself! It is about who you play and who you beat and they have an opportunity with 4 quality games. This week should be revealing for all teams and it should be some great soccer to witness. Good luck and good health to all teams.

Byrd is a very good team. Excellent players & very well coached. They are definitely worthy of top 10 votes.

talkischeap- chill! read the initial thread "pre-season polls" so all responses are opinions on who may run the table and win state.. No disrspect to any of the teams because as the Saints proved a few years ago anything can happen... As for as my response on Byrd vs West Monroe by the response I took it to be a tournament concept showcase where games are played with a little more of a friendly concept from a coaches prospective (also you are right conditioning).. my fault there... on your comment about Mandeville Classic not being a tournament technically you are right, there will not be a champion, but two games a day will be played by many teams (if scheduling I saw is correct). I always say if it looks like a pig, smells like a pig then it is a pig no matter how you dress it up! Technically you are right, BUT in my earlier response coaching decisions many times are not the same if it would be a one game senerio, whether it be missing players (holiday season), ding up starters held out or playing at a reduced rate and wanting to see underclassmen under game conditions.. My response on polls was under the premise who I FELT (opinion) could win state and that is why I ended it with my best guess would be the first 5 (winning it all) and I stand by that.. Can Byrd be a top 10 team? SURE, but will they beat SSA, Mt. Carmel, Dominion (defending champ) St. Thomas More and so on..... I would say not at this time, but....... U Never know!

No need to chill, just replying with my opinion. I respect your posts and agree with your top 5 actually; my whole point really is that Byrd has the opportunity any team should want. Play some regularly top 10 ranked teams and prove what you think you deserve as a ranking...on the field.
Actually you are correct this year in that they will determine a winner and runner up in each division based on points.

talkischeap- I totally agree with you there! I actually attend games without siblings playing because of the love for the game. I will try to attend some of the Mandeville Classic games and see Byrd first hand... Good luck to all...

Saw Byrd play at Mandeville Tournament and impressed me with their toughness. After seeing most teams in the top ten (ours) in this tournament I could see some upsets in later rounds this year, but money still on SSA, Lafayette, Mt.Carmel or Dominican being able to run the table. Remainder I can see upsetting someone, but not be able to put 3 quality games together against top teams. Should be competitive to say the least....
