As we move through the first couple of weeks of the season, what are your district assessments this year? Last year's D-I "District of Death" with SSA, Font, Mandy, Northshore, et. al will again prove to be a gauntlet.
Perhaps not far behind in D-I is the newly constituted Baton Rouge area district with SJA, BR High, Dutchtown, St. Amant, East Ascension, et. al. Clearly without the talent at the top as the former, we'll call this the "District of Doom." 5 teams will beat up on each other for 3 [maybe 4?] playoff spots. At least 1 team is going to be intensely disappointed.
SJA may be the best 0-3 team in the history of La soccer, with close but competitive losses ag/ SSA, Sacred Heart, and Dominican. Throw in an unofficial 0-0 result ag/ St. Thomas Moore that was called at halftime, and even though I am biased, I think you have a Div. I top 10 team there.
Of course, we'll see how district play shakes out.
Those of you to the wild west, the nascent north, the ecclectic east, and the scintillating south -- weigh in on how your districts might shake out this year.

SJA Dad, I'll agree this will be a tough district this year. From what I've seen thus far EA looks strong! BRHS is improved over last season, but is still gelling a bit. St.Amant and Woodlawwn both play a physical style, so can't be counted out. Dutchtown and SJA are always strong as well. I don't see McKinley competing, but that's why we play the games. Should be a fun season to watch, and it is a shame at least one or two good teams will be left out of the playoffs. Guess we'll get to feel the pain the "District of Death" has been feeling. The competition may be even more fierce on the boys side of this district!

Spartacus,
While I certainly respect SJA hasn't run from quality competition I would struggle placing them in the top ten at this point based on teams they have played or competed with or reflecting as the best 0-3 team in the history of La soccer. Scores, respectively, of 4-1, 3-1 and 2-1 would push them just outside the top 10. Definitely have a tough district to work through. I do appreciate your passion and loyalty, gotta love it!
The adjective describing us as the nascent north fits as we do have potential and need to continue to develop with WINS over some of our Southern friends. We will take a different approach and call us the District of Diocese (needing oversight from the Father outside our district)! We have some quality teams in Magnet, Shreve, Parkway, Airline and Byrd but victories outside of our district will make the most noise.
With that, Byrd and Magnet probably have the best chance to win district while Shreve, Parkway and Airline always create good battles and have the ability to create havoc in the standings.
I leave you with best of luck to SJA and we hope to see or meet your ladies deep in the playoffs! You gotta pick some simpler adjectives for us red necks in North La. I had to look up "nascent!"
No, I'm Spartacus.
