Physical game between 2 very well coached teams. First half dominated by UH, 1 missed PK. Second half tighter, INCREDIBLE goal tending on both sides.

I agree with the assessment. Wind direction seemed to also help both teams. U-High had the wind in the first, Runnels had the wind in the second.
I have a question.
U-High has a penalty kick in the box. The ref blows his whistle for the PK. As the U-High player starts their approach to the ball a Runnels parent yells BOOOOO! Is this Bush League or accepted practice in High School soccer?

It's bush league, haven't really ever heard that at a soccer game. It's pretty common in a high school basketball game though. There was lots of bush league screaming from both sides during the game. As there is at most every soccer game I have been to. These girls are all tough enough mentally and physically to deal with a few parents yelling and carrying on. They learned how to tune it out long ago. But I think the refs even considered giving the player another kick. For fan yelling? This isn't tennis.

Thanks for the response. A lot of yelling on both sides. I have been to a lot of club soccer games and never heard a parent yell during a PK so was curious. Not something I would do but I have been known to yell at a ref or two.

Runnels High School had Mid-term exams the week leading up to this game. The soccer team did not practice for that week. To come away with a 0-0 draw against a very good U-High team without practicing for a week is outstanding for Runnels. Runnels had a slow start to the season due to missing players. Since the full squad has been available with all starters Runnels has beaten Northlake Christian 5-1, Episcopal BR 2-0 and tied U-High 0-0. Runnels is a team to watch.

Just thought I would push this thread back to the top since these rivals will play again for a semifinal spot vs ??. Evenly played first time around. If all you uhigh parents promise not to scream and holler at the refs, I won't eaither. since we are all such good friends, we should sit together. We will in a few weeks once premier starts anyway. Now that just might mess our girls' minds more than screaming like idiots. Nevermind.

Should be fun getting to settle the tie and what a way to do it. For a spot in the final four.
If we don't scream at the refs then at whom are going to scream?

My last sentence was dripping with sarcasm. I am looking forward to playing Monday. Should be a tough, fun game. Either team could win.

Of course it was, as was mine. At least we are trying to joust with dignity.
